Just curious, did Yahtzee go away when Mainord left? I haven't saw the coaches or any other football officials use it lately?

I am guessing that this probably means that Holmes to UK isn't happening.

Kid has tremendous upside. I loved his film when I first saw it. He can run and has a nose for the football. Put a shirt on him and in two years he will be a major contributor. Nice pick up.

Still possible, Holmes is a DT. They need both.

You may be correct. It will be interesting to see if they do have enough room to take both. Right now UK is at 25 commits. I don't know this for a fact, but they may be able to back count up to 3, which would allow them to bring in 28. If so, they may very well bring in another DL.

I agree I think this kid ends up at dtackle. He looks bigger than 245 in the video.

He very well could end up @ DT, but I am thinking that with Cross & Looney already on board that he'll likely be a 270+ lb. SDE like Z Smith.
Yea I could see that. That spot is essentially a dtackle in the 3 4. This kid is definitely a hand in the ground type. Sometimes these Tweeners with big motors work out.

We hear upside alot for years. We need talent in order to win in the SEC.

Gotta start getting those big guys in the middle and edge rushers. Good ones.

We are getting good players. Elam Meant Middleton Dubose is a very nice group of dlineman. It takes time to develope those inside guys Middleton RS sophomore Dubose RS Sophomore Meant RS junior and Elam Jr are good players this is the year they will have enough strength and conditioning for talent to take over. As good a player as CJ was he could not out perform Meant in practice. Meant will be a household name the next two years.

That dude looks like a LBer in a DT's body. I am really impressed with his ability to defend laterally. He moves really well for a big guy. He is also one of those guys that just punishes people. He hits like a Mack truck. I like that he has a bit of a mean streak. It is like he has the attitude that he's going to make any offensive player who attempts to run the ball anywhere in his vicinity immediately regret the decision to do so.

My main question is, how does a guy with this much raw potential get completely overlooked in a state like Georgia? You would think as many scouts as there are scouring that state that someone would have noticed him. Kinda hard to believe he hasn't even been evaluated by Rivals.

My guess he is new to football. Also alot of coaches including ours are not sure what position he will grow into. We have to take kids that we feel like can develope until we start getting can't miss guys in the whole class

The kid is so strong that he knocks down everyone in his way including the guy with the ball. He is athletic enough at DE to defend the dreaded Read-Option that has given UK Defenses fits over the years. I also love seeing him run down the field from the opposite side of the play to make a tackle.

Like someone above stated, I can't believe this kid hasn't been evaluated by the scouting services. I'm glad he wasn't, so the Big Boys couldn't slide in and try to steal him.

These are the types of kids that we need to find. This kid looks great!

Kid looks great on film. Sheds blocks well, uses his hands very well, good frame, and excellent motor. Really like how he plays.

No offense here, but has there ever been a film F Maggard didn't like?
Bold point Crank.... Not my want to defend FM or validate your point but...... Any kid that shows up on film with a D1 scholarship offer should look pretty damn good to all of us.... No matter what sport it is a kid good enough to play at D1 level is going to have good film..... Things get real, when all our good on film guys have to go against better film guys....

Probably be rated a 2 star because of the offers. Should be rated 3 stars because of the film.

I never watch the film of recruits outside of Stephen Johnson II that was my first in a long time. I do not know enough to make a real evaluation and I am assuming that holds true for at least 90% of the fans on here. Although I am sure few of them are willing to admit that. I stopped watching film after watching the great Hunter McClintock debate a few years ago, he looked GREAT on film too. I leave it to the coaches and those few posters who actually know something about this.

Elam Meant Middleton Dubose is a very nice group of dlineman.

They sure are a good start. But we need twice that many. I really like Meant's and Middleton's upside. I am not yet sold on Pringle. It takes time to build the lines, and we are on the right track. If Elam loses a little more weight and cranks up his level of play, that would help a lot.

I don't follow recruiting closely, but from what I see, this is an accurate statement. To me, he isn't that quick on the line of scrimmage. The staff must feel they can work on that with him or move him inside.

I hope it really works out for him.

Then there's no reason to even watch the film.

Point being that we shouldn't put a whole lot of stock in Freddie Maggard's film study.
Freddie is a fan first, which I like. That said, he isn't going to say negative things about a UK recruit. If he likes a recruit's film, he says it. If he doesn't say anything about the recruit's film, that is equally as telling, but much more subtle than dogging a recruit as many here are prone to do. There are several highly-ranked recruits (that fans have swooned over) that Stoops has recruited that he hasn't been too impressed with their film, and he has pretty much been dead on in those evaluations.

As far as Carter, he comes from a very small private Christian school (they are a sub-classification of Class A in Georgia). They went through a coaching change this past year and they only won 2 games. It is highly unlikely that Carter got much recruiting notice, and it would be interesting to find out how UK found him. To my highly untrained eye, he looks pretty darn good. He could be a steal.

Playing in Class A for a Christian academy with total K-12 enrollment of 800 students. The film looks good, even considering the lack of opposition, the frame and athleticism look good. Basically, it looks like he did not camp, and no one bothered looking because of level of competition. That's not to say he is a lock contributor (much less star) but put a shirt on him, let him run scout team and drill for a year against some physical equals, and the coaches seem to think they might have something, that is clear. The coaches at Memphis seem to agree, and that program is no joke of late.

(A little redundant, did not see preceding before posting.)

Still if I remember correctly the last three commits have been two two star jucos and a no star. Lucky that Coach Stoops seems to be holding on to the commits he got over the summer after a disappointing season.

Good point. Unless you are very familiar with the competition on the film, the film can be quite misleading. Is that the case here? I haven't a clue. But I trust the coaches to know if a kid has the necessary skills to be or become an SEC caliber player, and evidently at least one UK coach thinks he does. That's good enough for me.

This more than anything, is why I'm a little leary of these last few commits. It seems like that's all we can get as opposed to these guys being great players.
