Rick loves this news because he'll get to sit in the press box and watch two teams he has to cover. He couldn't care less what effect this have on MSU's football program.

Rick loves it because he grew up in Hattiesburg, his dad was the SID for years (and a great one), and he is a big USM fan. He loves it because it will undoubtedly help his school's exposure. I love this. I think it is great. I really believe we should embrace this decision. It will be great for both schools.

I'm sure you have read arguments on both sides all over this message board, so to resist somewhat the obvious baiting, or just be oblivious to a rhetorical question, I will just say in I believe such a rivalry will create a lot of excitement and simply be a lot of fun. I do not understand all the hand wringing over this.

A lot of excitement and a lot of fun. Otherwise, no real benefit to us.

and those reasons do NOT constitute a benefit? Why the hell do you play football games in the first place? Tell me, then, how it hurts us.
