when most of us have agreed that the LSU double OT loss was the turning point of our program down a negative slant. Well, it seems in another loss - the loss to Texas A&M last year - was the turning point of our program as far as becoming stagnant. Since then - our team has really put itself in a great position. Stricklin even mentioned in one of our interviews with him that A&M game as the game where he felt our program realized it's potential - at least for last season.

It's all falling into place. Mullen's player development, his maturing as a head coach, the fan support, etc. But the biggest thing is team leadership by Prescott and McKinney. It's more than game leadership, it's been practice and off-season leadership. And if you pay close attention to what Prescott says and most importantly how he says it, you can see he is genuine. The team feeds off those two guys and it is showing.

For all the criticism of Mullen's recruiting, play-calling, and "championship" talk, he has been consistent in what he has said. His reaction the last three games has been "I told you so" in the most modest of terms. He's admitted he was hard to work for in the first several years. But it's paying off now as he learns.

One of the assistant coaches told me this summer that in all his years as a coach he had never seen team leadership demonstrated like Prescott and McKinney.

If you say it was LSU in 2000, then the reverse trend really started with AU. I consider Auburn to be the annual SEC West watermark. 2013 should have been 9-4 (OSU and AU). Just didn't have the depth they needed.

UPigg was the turning point in 2000.

I remember the end of 2012 and most of 2013 some people wanting Mullen fired.
