Because they won 27 games in a row? Not gonna lie that’s a task, but …. Better question, name the highest RPI of those 27 wins?? But I bet it’s some great reading. They just tear some MSU *** up! Sorry may have jumped the gun. They finished 38-17, and lost the last two games to Hofstra and ….. can’t remember the boys. &tate beware! You did say NE correct?? Do love you DawgS. #Dont sleep on those boys!

I looked it up just out of curiosity. They have a couple wins against Kansas State. They also beat Connecticut. I would expect State to win handily, but they do have a few decent wins.

They do … like I said … give me that 27 game streak RPI! No easy stretch I can’t lie

Those 2 games mid-week games versus Kansas State were the only games Northeastern played all season versus a team that made the NCAA tournament. I cant imagine why Kansas State would play midweek games in Massachusetts. They had played at home the weekend prior and were playing @kansas the following weekend. Strange

if they are located in Boston they are going to have a mouth on them whether they play sports or not. Used to have a few customers up that way and can’t say that I actually liked any of them. Mostly just a bunch of big mouth A holes.
Their head coach is former MLB player Mike Glavine, younger brother of Tom Glavine. I don't expect any over the top antics from their dugout.

This will be their 4th regional appearance under Glavine. They went 0-2 in the other three (2018, 2021, 2023)

According to Wikipedia, so it HAS to be true, they are the largest university in the state of Massachusetts. They have satellite campuses in Charlotte, Seattle, San Jose, Oakland, Portland, Burlington, Miami, New York, London, Toronto, and Vancouver. Impressive, but they don't even have a Meridian
campus.

They still have a long way to go if they want to catch The University of Phoenix. ****

Well, fans are going to do what fans do. Remember 2012 and the 'We Believe' mania in MSU football? We were 7-0 after beating four cupcakes and unranked AU, UK, and UT. Fans were convinced we were the 72 Dolphins and fan swagger led at least one of us to put a We Believe t-shirt on the Bear Bryant statue.....just before bama took us to the woodshed. After starting 7-0 we got our asses handed to us the next three weeks and lost 5 of the last 6.

NE has put up eye popping numbers but there is a reason why they lead the nation in several pitching categories, have single digit losses and are not hosting. Absolutely they can beat us because anything can happen in one game but there is no denying they have played an extremely light schedule. Not one of the teams that beat them even made the NCAAT. They are yet to play a ranked team. They have only played one team that made a regional as a 3 seed. It is not debatable to say that we are the best team they have faced this season. If we play like we have the last three weeks we should win this game but we could just as easily lose it if we come out making errors and handing out free passes.

Here's how I see it (not that it matters).

NE will obviously throw their best pitcher at us. We have struggled some against above average pitchers this year. Pico has struggled a bit lately, especially in the early innings. I think Pico pitches well, but we struggle against their best guy. We lose something like 3-1.

FSU pounds Bethune and holds their ace.

We pound Bethune. BC eliminated.

FSU throws their ace against NE's #2 guy. FSU wins.

Now we get NE's #3, and we throw Ligon. He's actually done a better job recently. I think we have the advantage in this game. We win.

Now, we have to figure out how to beat FSU twice in a row using our bullpen arms and they have probably not had to use much pitching. FSU eliminates us.

Northeastern is a huge college. 31k enrollment. I dated a girl that went there about 20 years ago. No football team back then. Her first college game was The 2000 Florida game. I rushed the field, she wanted to go watch a movie. She watched a movie at my apt while i went out. Haven’t talked to her since the next morning at the airport. Not sure why, but if you can’t celebrate right, i ain’t with it

Insert rain delay and we go to a Super.

I did see one thread on the Tallahassee regional that had any action... and they don't think much of us at all. They seem to be only discussing who FSU will start against them in the second round.

I like that.

The best wins on their resume are two mid-week games vs K-State who is a 3-seed in the #2 national seed's regional. They did not lose many games but every team they lost to failed to make the NCAAT. We have just two losses against non-tournament teams. USC and TAM, two teams who would have easily made the tournament playing NE schedule.

To me the 27 game streak is a negative. Sheer probability is not on their side.

27 in a row is impressive unless you are discussing the Harlem Globetrotters

I like Ligon against them assuming he can throw stikes. Ligon probably has better stuff and throws harder than most of the pitchers they have faced.

I like that.

Certainly seems intelligent to discount a program in it's 39th NCAA tourney who won a national championship 4 years ago.
Something tells me the actual team and coaches are a bit more locked in.

That is a very good point. They probably have not seen a whole lot of high velo on their schedule.

Hell, they didn't even see K State's weekend guys and that's the only tourney team they played all year. Definitely a step up in power arms.

We just gotta throw strikes and play as clean as possible for this group in the field. And hope there's a light gale to the outfield.

That was a very questionable coaching decision, to have that pitcher come back out after that lengthy rain delay.
Questionable is one way to put it. I personally think it was a 17ing stupid decision is the better description. But, hey it worked out pretty good for State!
