Pope promised superstars in the portal and he needs to deliver. The fact that he continues to go after and miss (for whatever justification people on here make) is a MAJOR concern.

He has not landed one elite player outside of the state of Kentucky. Pope needs to prove he can go after a big time target and get him

If he stopped right now it would be better than most of Tubby's classes.
You act like Johnson,Moreno, Lewis, Williams and Lowe is below UK's historical standard for recruiting.

That class won’t win anything and we will be lucky to get back to the sweet 16. Don’t get me wrong I love those players and glad they chose UK but we NEED MORE TALENT.

You haven't lost Oweh who you are building the team around.
Have you looked around and seen all the team who are losing their own players.
Is UCLA better adding Dent and losing Mara?
Kansas?
Arizona?
Who are you scared of in the SEC?

His resume was not good enough to be hired UK. He needs to show this season he belongs here. And a repeat of last season will not suffice.

Well considering we finished 8th in the SEC and we have 2 teams in the final four and we had 4 in the elite 8 not named UK. I’d say we have a very big hill to climb not only nationally but in our own conference.

I guess so but I’m tired of all these people on here trying to tell people how to be a FAN. We all have opinions and can express them the way we see fit. We all have the same thing in common we want to see UK succeed and win Championships.

Not at all, but it’s rather obvious he will be in NBA next year. Obviously we’d take him “if” he was coming back to school. Basic common sense doesn’t exist anymore I guess. Instead we’d rather bash one another and interpret what people post to our own agenda. Our team is shaping up nicely if we’d all take a step back and look.

We need at least one good front court player. As of now. Its not looking good.

Right now when you factor in only HS recruiting and the Portal, we are class #3. OMG the recruiting sucks so bad right. lol. If we can land Folgers and one more guy, we'll have put together one hell of a team for next year so its crazy that people are acting like Pope sucks.

How do you think HS recruiting works? Coaches will look into at least 20 players, and will only land 3-5 of them, thats a lot of misses. With there being a month time crunch of the portal, you're hearing about everything so much more and now focusing on the misses , dont.. Wait until its over and see who we have then judge the coach just like with HS recruiting

I've always interpreted blowing it as you being in the lead a suddenly someone swoops in gets a player you were heavily favored for.
Is that the case here?
Did he ever say that these are the schools I'm considering and all of them are equal and I'll pick the one that fits me the best.
He stated publicly that he was a Dusty May fan before he ever entered.

UK does not have the NIL in place to get into bidding wars! Why it’s taking 5 missed elite freshmen, and 10 (and counting) missed portal studs, to come to that conclusion, is completely bonkers to me!

It sucks, and I would have never guessed it myself, but the data is undeniable! However, if it helps you cope, keep pretending it’s ANYTHING but a NIL issue.

Pope was a fill in.. He’s not the future, and he knows that. Until that proven coach comes along, this is what it’s gonna be. We’ll get our pieces and he’ll do the best he can with’m 👍

Did not expect to miss on 20 top players and have to settle for role type players. All of our history means little to the very best players. Kind of like NC struggling, how much is it not being a top level recruiter and how much is it money? Can't even take advantage of bringing in a top recruiting assistant coach. As of today, we lose a ton of games next season. Will the IU guy be the next commit?

Virtually nobody ever is likely to get twenty shots and thirty five minutes a night either.

Superstardom will probably require a high level of efficiency no natter how talented a player is but a few stars at once coming together to win big as a team are very plausible.

It is a big ask to put the team first and being willing to sacrifice when everyone else is offering the world, moon, and stars for the chance to put you at the center of the universe.

That also takes away the quick and easy paths for us as well.
Patience and stiff upper lips for casting the nets widely and things breaking down on either side within sight of the finish line are mandatory.

We may also at least in the short term lean a bit more heavily on picking the poison of a substantial overpay here and there just to get over the top from a branding perspective.

From a certain point of view Pope still hasn't landed his "Mashburn" and got him into the lottery which sort of will set up floodgates.
We need to get a big time out of state guy that hits to reach the full recruiting potential.

That or turn water into wine a couple or three or five times (once or once in a while usually gets written off as a fluke) to build such a high development reputation that dudes start jumping in line to be coached.
