I really hated the weather before, during, and after the Oregon game.
If you can fix that, we will be best friends forever!

Retractable roof. Got it.

Been an Iowa fan all my life, am an Iowa alum, but the seating space in Kinnick absolutely sucks. The average American male in 1929 when Kinnick was built was 5'7 140 lbs. Today it's 5'9 and 200. They need to tear the bleachers out and install individual seating.
Hopefully not like Carvers seats. Couldn't be more uncomfortable.

They need to take over the west side parking area of Kinnick on game days and put restrooms and concessions out there. Food trucks, etc. I know the upper crust would not like that who park there now.
They’ve priced almost everyone out of that parking lot. Fewer than half the spaces are used. Incorporating half of it for your idea is doable and a solid idea.

I opened this thread thinking I had nothing I could think to complain about. And I was wrong.

Sorry to say but I buy the seat backs and the new ones are too big. It's so tight and the new seats are taller and more forward and leave me practically on top of the person in front of me.

Would rather have them fix the passing game and tighten up the defense than any of this - just my 2 cents

I'm not following... of course I'd rather have the team win every game but it has nothing to do with the aesthetics, comfortability, or game day experience for the fans. We all spend lots of money on tickets, I think we all just want to see the overall experience improve in addition to the team winning.

In a perfect world, I want my cake.

Absolutely agree with you as I travel half way cross country to watch the Hawks play 3/4 times a year… so I get it as I understand your point of view for sure

I do not have the seat backs, stopped using them years ago. I sit behind folks that have the new ones and the are not friendly to us. The plastic backs give more when they lean back and the plastic edges will dig in my knees or pinch fingers when clasping my knees.

Definitely doesn’t sound fun or comfortable so agree 👍

I like the idea, and it wouldn’t need to be the entire lot just enough to draw people out of the tunnel and provide breathing room.

unfortunately to do that on the east side you’d have to close Hawkins Dr which isn’t happening.

We had them for the first game, saw the issue, called Learfield and had them removed for the rest of the season. We were not going to do that to the people behind us.

I have a few honey holes for getting a beer and something to eat within a TV timeout. I will not be sharing this information with anyone.

We have seat backs for our 4 seats (2 front and 2 directly behind). Mainly to save the seating space we paid for. Makes it easier to talk to one another during the game. I'm 6'5 and sit in the row behind and have never had an issue with my knees hitting the seat back. I can see it being an issue for some but what percentage?

Not technically stadium related but bring back the Hawkeye Express. About 3700 fans per game used it in 2019. So lets say 1000 cars stayed over by the mall. With parking becoming a bigger issue around Kinnick why are we not having fans park out at the mall? Do some incentives for fans to do that and bump that number up to 5-6K. Anyone have more info on why the express hasn't returned? Money?
I walk home from the games and if the game ends at 2:30pm there is still a line of cars on Sunset heading south at 5:30pm.

Iowa needs to install individual seats in the main East and West stands, at least between the 20s--seats like the ones in the mezzanine level of the North End Zone. The new seatbacks are not good. They're the port-a-potties of stadium seating--awful but better than nothing. Modern stadiums don't have bench seating. I don't think there's a single MLB stadium that has bench seating, except for some areas in the aptly named bleachers in the outfield. Northwestern's new stadium, though small at 35,000, is going to embarrass a lot of folks around the conference who run stadiums that reflect the pre-TV era. The seating and amenities in Evanston are gonna blow everyone away and, I hope, force Iowa to upgrade the seating in Kinnick.

It used to be even worse at Kinnick. I believe they widened each of the bleacher seats by 2" back in 2005/2006 so prior to that seating was extremely cramped. The seat widening was largely responsible for Kinnick's capacity dropping under 70,000. I would welcome wider seats going forward but it would cause an additional drop in capacity.

I'm 6' 5" and they hit mine. Depends who sits in them though. First couple games were smaller people then a larger couple started using them and the trouble began.

It is closed already yes. Police park there and the opposing team buses pick up team there. Not sure when it reopens post game, but that street gets closed pregame. We walk right up the middle of it to get to our gate.

I think ambulances go in at next street east. Just not sure how quick the reopen it post game. Usually see opposing team buses lined up on it waiting for players, so maybe when they depart they reopen.

Having sat in all 4 sections of the stadium recently, I think the north EZ is better line/amenity/butt and leg room. Pretty sure there’s more leg room and the seats are slightly wider. Also the bathroom and concession lines while not great seem to be better than other 3 sections. Probably less people per bathroom/concession since there’s two decks, not funneling all to the same concourse. Biggest complaint in north is you can hear almost nothing on the sound system that comes from the south ez. Kinnick’s pregame speech clip is just garbled noise for example.

I’m sure much of it is just due to the fact that it’s the only recently renovated section.

Yeah the guy ahead of me doesn't like my knees cracking the back of his head. I swear when I look down his head is between my knees 😩. Aisle only seat to stretch the legs.

I rode the train once and waiting in line can take hour(s).

People cut in line with their friends so that ended the train for me. Along with wait time. Especially when the game goes to the final play.

That's every stadium with assigned bleacher seating.
