Years ago, State was screwed by an inadvertent ref whistle...

Anyone remember this? State was punting to LSU, and the ref (or someone in the stands?) blew a whistle, and the State players stopped. The LSU returner caught the ball and kept going, and had like a 90-yard punt return against us. Made play of the day and was nominated (and maybe won) play of the year. <div>
</div><div>As I remember it, that punt return made the difference in a close loss to LSU.</div>

And, we got murdered after that.

That was my first (and last) game at tiger stadium.

I was in the endzone and clearly heard the whistle, not to mention all of our guys that eased up running assuming he had called a fair catch or downed the ball.

I was on the sideline that night (1994) and the reason why our players stopped was because Clay Mack hit kinneson three yards deep in the endzone and everyone on our team assumed the play was over. Well Eddie ran it out. All the way out. No smoke, no whistles
