Crazy what that kid has accomplished in his rookie year… can you imagine being called up your rookie year with two weeks left in the season and end up dominating in the post season and absolutely shutting down a great team in a huge game 6 of the World Series?!? Just craziness!

Oh, and we beat him two years ago in his last season at ECU!

I saw him pitch against us twice, and just looked up the stats for those two games. He was every bit as good as I remembered:

It was February, they weren't going to push him much past 100 pitches no matter what.

I do bet there's a game thread on the other site where people were wondering why we couldn't put the ball in play against him. 20 months later I think we have our answer.

Watching him deal in the WS against one of the best lineups in baseball (and most expensive) is a treat. It's nice to know that his 64 degree arm angle mixed up both Vance and Ohtani. Also the fact that he started in Low-A this season and put the Blue Jays one win away from their first title since 1993 is just insane.

ECU has produced Gavin Williams and Trey Yesavage…both of whom look like aces for their staffs going forward. Pretty impressive.

…and this really even isn’t his rookie year. That will be next year. I guess this is his pre- rookie season. What a game (and entire postseason) he’s had!
