A caller was giving Dick crap about their crootin championship and us winning 4 out of 5 EggBowls and after he hung up, a butt hurt Cross said he would take top 10 recruiting classes over an Egg Bowl win any day. Five years of top 10 recruiting should mean your program is on the rise but a lot of factors figure in to it such as attrition and basic team chemistry. If you had a choice of the following, a recruiting class ranked 20-30, guaranteed 4of 5 egg bowl wins, and no guarantee of wins and losses, or a top 10 recruiting class, lose 4of the next 5 Egg Bowls, but still no guarantee of wins and losses other than the EB? All of this over the next 5 seasons. What say ye pack?

I'd take the former all day, every day. Recruiting classes don't guarantee wins; Texas, Florida, Georgia, you get my point.

I wont pick one of your scenarios, but I will say... Ill take our recruiting with our records and our egg bowl wins and our bowl trips over anything OM has done in the same amount of time. Richard is just being a poor sport.

I only listened to a portion yesterday and they were talking about the Auburn- Bama game for the most part. I wondered if Cross would make excuses or man up and accept defeat. Recruiting means nothing if you lose. It's all about coaching, and I think Freeze's lack of experience may be catching up with him. I think next year will really be a good measuring stick for Freeze. Cross was just being Cross.

Matt was about to correct his flawed logic and then Cross interrupted him because I think even he realized how stupid he just sounded.

Continue to lose the egg bowl every year and soon your recruiting will be like USM. Why would someone pick ole Miss when they lose the last game every year.

Ummmmm losing all those Egg Bowls, going 0-8 in the SEC in 2010 and no post season play in 2010 and 2011 didn't seem to affect their recruiting. Ole Miss relies on "other factors" to ensure high recruiting classes.

Their Top 10 class wouldn't be top 10 in a reranking after the season...

Hooks (JUCO) has 10 tackles, 1 sack on the season. Not a 5-star.
Brassell, not a 4-star. Or even a 1-star. Really shouldn't have been counted in OM's rankings anyway.

These guys are freshmen, so they still have plenty of time to improve, but:

Nkemdiche, 29 tackles, 2.0 sacks (Troy, MSU). Not a #1-player-in-the-country 5-star. He's good, but maybe not even a 5-star at all, yet.
Kailo Moore, 69 total rushing yards, 0 vs SEC. Not a 4-star.

Tony Conner and Tunsil have been good, and Treadwell has been spectacular and has earned his top receiver rating. But reduce the rankings of just those 4 listed, and OM's class drops to #15 or worse.

If you're losing 4 out of 5 egg bowls, your recruiting rankings must be BS, with either grossly misevaluated players or good players with terrible character issues.

If I were asked would I rather have top 10 recruiting classes with no win guarantees or 20-30 recruiting classes with 4 out of the next 5 egg bowls, I'd probably take the top 10 recruiting classes. Whatever my complaints about Dan, I have no doubt that he'd win big if he got top ten talent. I think he'll do pretty well getting classes in the top 20 to 30 range as I don't think rankings are that accurate, but a guarantee of winning 4 out of the next 5 egg bowls doesn't get the program much other than make it very likely that 5 wins will basically be our floor for the next 5 years.

I listened to that Dickhead for awhile. He does have a way of getting the best of Wyatt for some reason. He has an agenda against State while Matt is just Matt trying to be objective...Mr. Nice Guy doesn't work out, I guess.

I love listening to Matt on the "5'th Quarter Show", but I wish he did not act like such a ***** when on the air with Dick.

heres the thing. they have a few good recruits. that doesnt make a TEAM. we play as a TEAM. they play as individuals. look at robert kardashian, he's a meltdown waiting to happen. we all have seen what one person can do to a team(sidney), and its not good. look at baseball, the yankees always have the most talent but they dont play as a team. as long as we can stay within the top 15-30 in recruiting i will be happy as long as they play as a team.

I'd rather lose the imaginary recruiting trophy and win the real egg shaped one.
