Cannon Smith, Memphis quarterback and son of FedEx CEO, arrested

Cannon Smith, son of FedEx founder and CEO Frederick Smith and
quarterback for the University of Memphis football team, was arrested
early this morning on charges of public intoxication and disorderly
conduct.
Court records indicate he was arrested at 3:30 a.m.
Smith, 23, remains in the Shelby County Jail.
In a statement released by the University of Memphis, Tigers head
football coach Larry Porter said, "We are aware of the incident that
occurred involving Cannon Smith. The matter currently is under
investigation, and we are in the process of gathering all of the facts
before making any decisions or public statements.”
