are y'all seeing the pissing match that has erupted between Gottfried and Steele?

Supposedly Steele gets a call last night from a reporter after seeing Steele's release come across the ESPN crawler. Word is, Gottfried found out that Steele was walking and put out the press release to be out front and blame everything on Steele's plantar fascitis injury. Steele has now put out a press release saying that his injury is not the reason he's quitting and inferring not too subtely that he has a problem with Gottfried.

I'm telling you, Stansbury has 9 f'n lives. Every west opponent around him is imploding over rag head cabbies or kappa gamma sorostitutes.

If there was anything more to it than his injury. Going from "doubtful" a week ago to not being able to play the rest of the season is a a 180 degree turn. Had to wonder if Gottfried had anything to do with his decision to be injured.

So new coaches at Bama and possibly UM and Auburn.

to go see dr james andrews yesterday. havent seen/heard how that went...

steele is obviously tired of being the goat. gottfried uses the fact that he is injured & they have "to play like a different team" without him as a shield... one that is apparently full of holes after 3 years...
don't blame the kid, though.

stay of execution @ au. they just dumped a pile of money into/through the football program.
that is the one place i've been to watch state play that it seemed like the opposing fans expected to lose.
hell, a few years back after state thumped 'em by about 30, people were congratulating me on a good game. it was weird to say the least.

Steele was gone yesterday. Pay attention.

No need for the exclamation points. Steele is an excellent player even if he plays for Bama. There is no need to be excited about him being hurt unless you are a POS like Bruiser.

was he back to the player he was his freshman year? i hate to see a guy have to hang it up because of injuries, especially someone who had his talent. i had been meaning to watch them to see how well he was playing this year.

Sounds similar to what happend in recruiting a few years ago with Walter Sharpe maybe? At the last minute he commits to us and Gottfried goes through the press to let it be known he had pulled the scholly offer beforehand (would have been a great move) and tried to insinuate that Sharpe and his family were on the take. Maybe that was Austin.

he has outlasted some of these more "high profile"- using that term loosely here- coaches like Rod Barnes, Gottfried, Brady, and Stan Heath.

Even without Steele, Gottfried should have done alot more winning that he has done. He consistently has pulled in decent recruiting classes and good players like Jamareo Davidson, Richard Hendrix, Alonzo Gee, etc. and not done jack with them. He had the one good year that Coach34 likes to talk about with Winston and company but outside of that he has not done anything with arguably as much talent as any team in the West over the years.</p>

In the games he played, he was not the explosive Ron Steele of the past. I won't soon forget the driving layup over Jamont in the waning seconds of the game in T-Town a couple of years ago. Of course, if Ben could make a free throw, that wouldn't have mattered......
