as the 14th member and nothing matters but who you really want in the SEC so who do you pick? Mine is UNC.

Doesn't do anything for the TV market, but they would be my pick. I just hope to hell it isn't WVU. I would rather stay at 13.

Edited to add: Dawg61, get you another post, quick. That's a bad number you are on, bro.

And wonder why they never get mentioned. I mean, they cheat in football so they should fit right in.

Their basketball program is a national product. They are excellent academically. Their football is a little weak right now, but I've always thought of their football as underperforming with potential to break out. Other than that they seem to be a good fit.

VT, Clemson, and FSU are all natural fits that I would enjoy seeing play in the conference every year, but every State fan needs to be rooting hard that tonight's news about Mizzou leads them to the SEC. If they come in, likely to the West, that pushes Auburn to the East. I'll gladly trade A&M and Mizzou for Auburn.

Chapel Hill road trips would be excellent.

Clemson is the best cultural fit in the SEC. UNC would make better sense from a financial standpoint, but Clemson is the best fit.

Also, although they bring nothing to the table, Virginia would be an awesome pick up. Charlottesville be an awesome place to go for an away game, they are strong academically, and State could beat them in football. What more could we want?

In a perfect world, we could just kick out Kentucky and bring in two schools out of Clemson, UNC and FSU.

Mizzou can go 17 themselves. They don't belong, and I hope they lose every game they play.

I lived in Tallahassee for 9 years and went to many FSU games there. Great game day atmosphere, they already have a great rivalry with UF and I think games between FSU and AU, UG, Bama, LSU, etc...would be awesome and would become instant SEC classics. To me, they are a natural fit for the SEC. I just don't get the Missouri thing. I'm sure it's a fine school, but I don't see them as a natural fit for the SEC. Maybe it's just me, but I'm just not getting it. Still, I agree with most on this board: anyone, as long as it is not Wes' Virginny!

They'd get us control over a hugeTVmarket(9.5 million people live in North Carolina). Good football with potential to be a lot better, great in all other sports, great academics. Natural fit geographically. For any history buffs, they were an original Southern Conference school along with everyone else in the SEC except Arkansas and Alabama. If they'd accept a bid, this would be a slam dunk.

Then it would be, without question, Notre Dame. Huge endowment. Huge fan base. Storied history. Network television deal with NBC.

If we're really saying the sky's the limit and nothing matters except getting the 'one', then it's them, like it or not.

Some of the other ones mentioned here...

UNC has a good fanbase, but Basketball just doesn't count anymore. CBS can't shed Tourney games off their networks fast enough. No basketball schools.

FSU is the obvious choice for a lot of people, but why? Adds nothing to the footprint. They really only had about 15 years of relevance and that was over 10 years ago. Quite frankly, this year, they're one of the few teams whose expectations had to be readjusted farther than ours.

Clemson I could see, but again. I don't think they add anything. You might as well look at Georgia Tech at that point. I just think that's thinking too small.

Maybe I missed the point of this exercise.

They're more of an SEC school than ACC school anyway. They're fan base resembles a cross between MSU and Auburn (when I lived over there, Clemson reminded me of an MSU with money). They have a strong rivalry with Georgia and South Carolina. They would bring in fans from the Charlotte area. They're definitely a Southern school.
