If not Laetner, it has to be Rivers because:
1. We were underdogs. No way that team should win that game.
2. It was in the Dome.
3. It was against UNC/ the rivalry.
4. The UNC fan reactions.

That's two for Austin. I actually have no idea how many there have been, and I'm sure there are some I don't remember or never knew about.

Not a lot of people’s favorite team, but lest we forget, they are the last ACC team to go undefeated on the road in conference.

A lot of people weren't high on Austin, but I mentioned in a different thread a few days ago that I met him and got his autograph at the Va Tech game I went to in Cameron. The kid could not have been more cordial and respectful to me. I got pretty much the entire teams autograph, along with Mickey K, but it really impressed me how Austin treated everyone of us

He was a really nice kid. Doc taught him well on how to deal with the public.

Grayson Allen’s win over UVA in 2016

That one is bittersweet for me only because Greenberg ruined it by bringing back the Duke and the refs conspiracies for a good week.

He tried again last night with a snide comment about the refs overturning the call, saying “that type of thing only happens for Duke...”

What a joke that guy is. Did not like him when he was in Blacksburg.

Maybe it’s unfair to single out Austin, but that team lost its last regular season game in Cameron to the holes by 18, then the first round loss to Lehigh.
Memories of a team won’t be good when you lose 3 out of your last 4 games.

1) The Shot-that will always be the greatest buzzer beater because if he doesn’t make that shot then we don’t win our second championship

2) Austin’s Dagger-because it was agaisnt UNC in Chapel Hill

3) Cam’s Clutch-because FSU always gives us fits in Tallahassee and it’s so hard to win there plus they always seem to beat us there when we’re ranked #1, they beat us in 2006 and 2011 when we were ranked #1

This is a great thread. How did you ever think of it. We've had a ton of great buzzer beaters. I'm going with .Cam Reddish 3 point buzzer beater at FSU in 2019. I remember it like it was yesterday. I can tell you where I was sitting. Where by wife was sitting and the though running through my mind right before the inbounds pass was made. OFC

I don't know where this idea came from sky!!! I just had the thought pop in my head last night while having a few cold ones and watching some tv!!

They were all hreat.

Another thing that make Rivers' great is that the Dome crowd considered that game in the bag. Duke had it close at the end, but UNC was in control, or so they thought. Duke really snuck up on them at the end and then the dagger at the end. If Laetners is "The Shot," Austins should be "Saved By Zero." We really could use a video clip of this with an audio clip from The Fix. Then, once a week one of us could post it to THR until we are all banned!

Buzzer beaters

I would argue Gene Banks in 1981 was severely underrated and could be listed here if it was a game winner. Duke beat the eventual national runner-up in UNC and one could point to this maybe help save K's job when things were really bad the next two seasons
