Its hard to imagine how excited I used to get for WVU games. It was just always what I was doing on Saturdays, period. I would have friends over, cook lots of food, everyone would have fun and we would loudly cheer on the Mountaineers. That tradition has faded since Neal took over. In fact my main WVU fan buddy chooses to work on Saturdays now. He hasnt watched a WVU game since the Pitt game. We didnt even talk about the TCU game. Not a word about it, because we all know nothing will change until Neal Brown is gone. No one cares. The excitement around WVU football is gone, for now. The only thing that can bring it back is winning and that aint going to happen until this entire staff is gone from Morgantown.

Make WVU Football Relevant again!!

I see more and more comments like this. Granted I gave up my season tickets the last year of Rich Rod, but I have too slowed down the intense passion for WVU. I still support 100 and actually made it to a game this year (Baylor) for the first time in over a decade, but I think it has to do more with WVU not being as relevant in the Big12 as we had hoped.

We have not won’t a conference championship or even played for it, we have not beat OU, we beat Texas but Texas has been anything but Texas for 10 years, every team has made a decent run except for Kansas, but we have been horribly inconsistent.

The Big 12 has kicked our @ss.

The Big 12 hasn’t seen the real WVU in football. Unfortunately, WVU entered the Big 12 at the same time they were entering the fall of the program. Holgorsen never represented WVU and his coaching was not typical of a WVU football program. Brown has brought WVU back to 1979 Cignetti level.

I’m curious. What does real WVU Football look like? Rich Rod with White, Slaton, and Big Owen? Jake the Snake or Major? Spread? Air Raid? Power?

We have been Hal Mumme since we joined the Big 12 and it hasn’t done much for us. If West Virginia football is spread with the 3-3 stack the godfather that offense would be available and that DC is already on the staff.

WVU football to me is stout defense and balanced offense. I grew up watching some good defenses though, particularly the one with Gary Stills and Canute Curtis wreaking havoc on QBs and RBs. Dunlao fielded some very good defenses in his time.

I loved Rich Rod's spread option and would've been happy to stay the course on that style offense, but defense during and since Rich Rod has been a roller coaster. The 3-3-5 would have two bad seasons per every one good season it seems. Holgs took the defense to even lower levels when he hired Deforest though. I was optimistic about Neal Brown because of Vic Koenning. That dude has coached every defense he's ever coached into being a top defense. I was more excited about that than I was Neal to be honest. But we went woke and now we're broke. The program is in shambles and is a fragment of what it once was.
