You know who I now compare Greg Byrne to?

Doc Fogelsong. If you think about it, it's pretty similar. Both were here for about 2 years, and this was just considered a stepping stone for both of them. Both of them did a lot of great things that needed to be done, especially in modernizing (for lack of a better term) the way we operate. Both of them also had a crazy idea that luckily did not come to pass (Fogelsong-painting everything brown;Byrne-the slogan that shall not be named). <div>
</div><div>Now, to put my positive spin on this situation, let's hope we can do the same thing we did after Fogelsong by getting Mark Keenum in this search. We ended up getting a great leader who considers this a destination job and will be here for some time it seems. </div><div>
</div><div>There seems to be someone who fits that description for this spot, too: Stricklin. If you really look at it, he has a better resume than Byrne did before coming here and has operated under Byrne for the last couple of years. He also has two degrees from here and would seemingly love to be here for the long haul. I am all for conducting a full-scale national search, but I do think the best-case scenario at the end of that search if for Stricklin to be the best candidate and for us to be able to continue with what we have going on right now.</div><div>
</div><div>The sky is not falling, people. Consider this an opportunity.</div>

BTW, it looks like he'll just miss being vested in PERS. Looks like he needed another 3 or so months... wonder if he's earned enough leave time to make it to four years?</p>

I agree Stricklin is a very qualified candidate. I also think Joe Dean jr is. Comparing resume's the big difference I see is that one worked under GB and the other has actually BEEN an AD, not taking a position just my look at comparing these 2.....What I also don't know is who else may be out there. My point, I think its a little early to really pinpoint a candidate now and hang all our hopes on that guy. In a week or so all of this should shake out and see a clear path of who really is in the running. Question, does this process have to be public like the pres search was, meaning finalists interviewed on campus by diff groups? Or will this be done behind closed doors by Keenum himself?
