today is the first time we have outrebounded our opponents in conference. We're 1-7 in conference play in rebounding. And it isn't really the score that matters, it's the rebounding. FIRE STANS NOW!!!

and i love that...but I wouldnt go so far as to say he is playing like a 4....

He's got his hands full this Wednesday with the SEC's best- they are long and athletic too

I think you both misread. He said he's beginning to like playing 4, not that he's beginning to play like a 4.

Ever since the baby came: "When are we gonna get married?"

All these negative vibes, man. Must be some sarcasm in there somewhere.

Is it possible we might actually lose another game? Never happened when Old Bailey was there.

No, wait, it did...

17 you Coach34, quit bitching about the 4 guard lineup. Phil's probably the most important player on this team, and he's not only defending 4's, but he's dominating them more than anyone else on our team would. Plus that helps when slow big guys have to leave him or another one of our guards open for threes.
I was skeptical about the 4 guard deal at first too, but now I love it and think it's without a doubt our best option. The SEC just doesn't have athletic power forwards that can score, and Phil exposes the lack of talent at that position in the league. Could he guard Brandon Bass? No, but there aren't guys like that in this league right now.
Going small just helps us on the offensive end more than it hurts us on defense right now

some of these boys think it has been their bitching that got Polk and Croom out of their spots. They are drunk with the power of their interwebs bitching and have Stans in their sights no matter if he has been the most successful coach at MSU in any sport over the last decade.

God knows what they are gonna do if we win the West or the SEC tourney, make the NCAAs and have a good run. They will have to start bitching about Meo, the kids or something then.

but come on, they are the most experienced team as well. To play with 4 guards and be 6-2 in the west is amazing (yeah winning the west is important). Stans has done his best coaching job this year, gutsy move to play 4 guards but its working. B Johnson is healthy again and I see him giving us a boost for the 2nd half of the season.
Getting back to Lsu, they are a tough match-up for EVERYBODY in the SEC, not just Msu!
Ease off the pedal brother, you being an ex should know better.

If you honestly believe that's why Croom was fired, then you live on a different planet from the rest of us.

I think for the most part he has done a pretty good job this year. I like the 4 guard attack- I can assure you nobody likes the 3-ball anymore thn I do....My problem with it is that he doesnt force the tempo enough with it and tries to play too much half-court D with 4 guards. Extend the defense, force the tempo...

Offensively, we look better than we have in years with spacing and ball movement...

And yes, LSU is a tough match-up for everybody.

Monday morning experts who loathe in glory when we lose and try to defend themselves when we win. It is a comedy at best. Stans has done a hell of a job and you don't see him crying when players get hurt or aren't there. Holcombe would have helped us and Rick has simply played with what will win. Folks on here blast Benock, belittle Barry, and hide behind their 17ing computers . Coach hasn't been to a home game since 2004 and yet he is an expert? Come on, this is a joke. We ***** about substitutions, and anything else to try and be critical. Coach has screamed all year Osby should be playing more and yet when he gets the chance, he proves he is not there yet. Can't make a free throw and still is learning how to play SEC defense. Nobody has mentioned that is why Ravern sat for a while yesterday, he was not defending and when he was not shooting, he sat. It is what good coaches do and they find ways to win. If we win the SEC, they'll say it was a bad league. Absolute BS and it really does seem most are closet reb fans who constantly criticize the most successful coach on the MSU campus.

we do have good spacing, I have no problem with the quick shot, fact is when playing 4 guards who can all shoot the rock decent from the outside, no sense in passing around the perimeter milking the clock for a good shot. What I mean by this is Jarvis is our only inside game, we toss to him and if he can't make something happen he is pretty good about passing back out to a open shooter. Would like to to see R Johnson drive more, Barry and Dee do a good job off the dribble trying to create where as Turner has been good as a spot shooter (along with R Johnson).
I would like to see a little more mixing up the press whether it be half or full, but really we play a pretty good pressure man to man.
Nice comments 34, I knew you had it in you. Keep it up as I do think you understand the game, I also realize you ain't a fan of Stans, but Stans has come a long way sense year one, I really think he is getting better as a floor coach, plus I ain't knocking a coach who is the all time winningest regardless who we play in any sport. Stans is still a young man and I believe his day will come in the big games as did the Babe (greatest basketball coach in our history) and R Williams had a nice run once in the Ncaa tourney. When you look at it as for as tradition, we've never done well overall in the Big Dance, but winning the SEC or the West we've done very well.

and I'm curious to know if Coach agrees that there has been a lot of improvement even since 2004, when he last came to the hump.
