this "we are M-State" ******** and there is no way we could hire a decent coach in anything. It's a new 17'ing era.

1. While we had the inside track on Cohen, he could have chosen to wait on the Bama job to go home. I have no idea if he even wanted that job, nor does anybody else here- but that could have been a problem. We hired a top-notch baseball coach that had just won an SEC title to be our baseball coach.

2. We hired a coordinator from the nation's top program to be our coach in football. And for a low price- I think the man is underpaid by half a million.

And yet somehow, there is no way we couldnt hire a good basketball coach? Now, its not time to fire Stansbury- but we are going to continue this same cycle every year with him as coach. The SEC is improved this season- i'm really curious now to see how it all shakes out.

I like what Byrne is doing- slowly improve the basketball schedule each year- working on getting more national games and better teams...interested to see where we are in 2 years

He seems to be doing a pretty good job of that on his own. He doesn't need any help from us.

to replace him. It's always preferable for a coach to evolve than have to start over though.

Mullen and Cohen are going to be very successful. Stansbury towering over an incompetent running backs coach from the NFL and a 10 year past his prime Ron Polk are over.

When the rebels can see you're a fool then that should tell you something. If we fired Stansbury, I guarantee that the rest of the SEC would be as happy as you are, coach. Just like they were happy we kept Croom around for the 5 year experiment.

SEC basketball is 5th conference-wise in FF appearances the last 10 years- I think its 5th in Sweet 16's as well....

SEC football is the best

SEC baseball is never lower than 2nd best

Winning the weak side of a 5th rated conference a few times doesnt make you a legend...His one SEC title was a great year though

considering the SEC is tied for first in FF appearances over the last 4 years, and tied for second in the last 15 years.

Cohen has an SEC title too

Mullen was even more successful as an asst than Stansbury, winning two titles

They compare pretty well

But the SEC being 5th during that span is. That's why I gave you the four year and fifteen year statistics. Let's let Cohen win the West a time or two and let Mullen get us to a few bowls before we start using that argument to compare to Stansbury, eh?

but they are what they are....10 years is about as standard as it gets in measuring stats like that...4 years? WTF? Dubmass

that exaggerates your point of view is standard. F*ck the preseason rankings, hell, you aren't the 18th best voice of reason on this board. Shut the hell up.

Let's judge this entire season on one loss. Granted, a 14-point loss to Rider at the Hump is unacceptable, but I'm sure you couldn't even contain your excitement to bash Stansbury. Your life is small, sad, and unbelievably pathetic.

with Stansbury being an assistant at MState? That's about as good as your firing Stans = firing Crooms statement. I know you like stirring stuff up, and you have been in rare form tonight, but this is just ridiculous.

Jim Wells basically had Mitch Gaspard as his "coach in waiting", so unless Mal Moore intervened like Byrne did with Polk and Raffo, Cohen would not have been a candidate for the job.

MSU is Cohen's dream job. Even if John had taken the Bama job a couple of years ago, I still think we would have gotten him away from them.

John may take the Bama job on down the line after he has accomplished some things at MSU, but that's way down the line.

is a trip to Omaha or Atlanta and yes, those guys immediately pass him by...

Nothing went over my head, but Cohen winning the SEC at Kentucky has pretty much trumped anything Stansbury has done...its like Mississippi winning the SEC in basketball or football- it's just not going to happen....

Mullen hasnt even finished a season yet- so all you can compare is what these guys have done in their entire careers

Or is this pure conjecture? I know he's from Tuscaloosa, I've just never seen or heard anything regarding him and the Bama job. Pardon my ignorance on the subject if this is common knowledge. I know how unforgiving this board can be for such transgressions.

but he has won me over. There is no excuse for this. We are going to face the same thing OM has this season in football. Basically overrated.

to our football and baseball suckage. If Cohen and Mullen get their sports competitive again that will change. Stans has received a huge bye on some things because his program has been the only one on campus with even a chance to compete for years.
