This is different. Good teams get upset in baseball all the time. This issue here is that we are not a good team. We've been swept the past 2 weekends - 6 straight losses. This isn't a game you simply overlook and slip up. Even though it was JSU, we should've beenembarrassed about how pitiful we've been playing & come out & beat the piss out of them. This was our best chance to win a game - when you're in slump, you better take advantage of any opportunity like this because they don't come around often.

Instead we go out & play like we're maybe the 5th best team in this state. That's why this compares to the Maine loss. When you're good, you can get upset - sure it pisses off the fans but it's quickly forgotten when you make the postseason. But when you suck, you better at least win the games you're supposed to.

Cohen should at least have three recruiting classes in before he gets fired for lack of results...It is going to take Cohen or another coach two more years to be competative..
If you know about a sport, you should be able to tell if there is real improvement outside of the win loss record. I don't knowenough about or watch enough baseballto know whether Cohen is failing, butyou should be able to tell next year.Ifplayers don't improve next year, then you're simply relying on outrecruiting everybody else;

UVA. msu has a great baseball tradition...from a number of yrs back, but in baseball you can win anywhere. UVA has everything a coach needs plus its a beautiful campus and great part of the country. i don't know why a guy would leave there for msu....or ole miss....to coach baseball. football, maybe cause the sec is the big leagues but in baseball again you can win anywhere. so if they're willing to pay him at all what a top baseball coach should make it would be tough to move him, IMO.

that I'm not sure that we could get him. We're not going to get anyone good without a fight. Even UK made a counteroffer to Cohen.

history? Is a top 20 program "great"? I really don't know where the line is. 10? 20? 30?

But being in the SEC may not be the draw it used to be. ACC teams are making it to Omaha regularly and they don't have quite as tough a path through the conference.

but not like the SEC. The SEC is the elite baseball conference in America. I don't know where the lines are, but when there are 300 something programs out there, top 20 is really good.
