I'm curious. I'm 63 and an Auburn grad so no real dog in this hunt. But I grew up respecting Nebraska and remember the days when the number of consecutive 9+ seasons was as far back as I could count. What are your realistic expectations today? Do you think those days are possible again? You're in a tough position. Most of you probably remember the golden days but the dynamics have changed now. The population of Nebraska is 2MM, about half the population of Alabama and less than half than that of Atlanta. You probably can dominate your state in recruiting but is that enough? How many of the top 10 players in Nebraska are as good as the top 10 in Gerogia, Florida and Louisiana? I wish Auburn could dominate the state but thats unrealistic and even if they did, it's not enough. We still have to dip into all the surrounding states. How many of todays 18 year old kids know who Tommie Frazier or MIke Rozier even were? My point is, unless you get that transcendent coach, like Tom Osborne or Bob Devaney, what do you really believe is possible? This is a tough pill to swallow because the days of greatness arent that long ago, but I think the days of "Nebraska Football" meaning what it used to, are over. Makes me a little sad as well.
