I really think it comes down to having elite talent at the QB and WR positions, and this has been where KF just hasn’t found the Joes that want to play in his run first system. WRs that need to block , QBs that are expect to never turn the ball over, etc. No beaches, no mountains, ****** weather, etc dont help either.
Don’t forget too… The Big Ten West was the easiest conference by a mile compared to the other teams on this list. So if Iowa pats themselves on the back for this accomplishment… then It doesn’t make sense to make fun of Nebraska winning the Big 8 in such a “cupcake” league. Because the Big Ten West was the patsiest league in football most of those years.
I agree. And I think the way they divided the league really hurt both Iowa and Nebraska. The Big Ten West was not a fun league… hard to convince the elite skill players to get excited about going to Champagne, Ryan Field, and West Lafayette. Especially when you’re playing in mostly empty stadiums in those three cities during those years.
They can't leave. Going back to their site means they all have to talk about how they love their coach but how they hope he retires. But they also get "in trouble" for posting that because 99% of them will then reply with "Retires, and then what? We may never win 8 games again?"

Nebraska beat 4 teams in the top 10 and the 1995 team is considered one of the best teams in the history of college football.

To go back in time to when Iowa won something, anything of importance, one needs to travel down memory lane to 1985 to find a Big ten title. Regan was in office, Huey Lewis and the News were popular along with Mullets, and in Iowa, the Schmenge Brothers Dutch polka band was all the rage. If you want to re live a natty, you need to hop in your time travel machine and go back to 1960. Kennedy was in office, bobby socks and Elvis were all the rage, and in Iowa when Kennedy landed in Des Moines, he looked around and said "God this place sucks ***" and left. Many Iowa football fans at the time remarked about how much they missed the 1920 Iowa team. KKK meetings were well attended. Corn Weevils destroyed what was a promising corn crop that year. Yes Iowa has a history any program would envy and you have to tip your cap to them for such excellence. No program except Alabama could compare.
Once again, iowa fans freely admitting that all the care about it beating NU. Literally no demands for more wins, better coaching, nothing. Happy once again, to just have that one magical win.
Between 1931 and 1941, Nebraska went 8-0 against the Hawkeyes. That’s the difference in this series.
No one under 92 years old can say Nebraska has a winning record over Iowa in their lifetime.

Honestly, congrats to Iowa, they whipped us. And they may go to a FL bowl game and play some SEC or ACC team that is playing all freshman because their starters have all opted out. Maybe they’ll even win it, and it’ll break their drought of beating a ranked team. Though I hope that Iowa wouldn’t count that. It’s still a four loss season with a seriously talented roster. I know it’s eight wins. But with the talent on that roster, I would look at this year as a loss if I’m an Iowa fan.

But alas, that 2022 4-8 Nebraska squad, in all its irrelevancy, beat your perennial middle of the road, win nothing of substance program... But couldn't it be, that the difference in the series may have come from any of the other runs Nebraska had??? You know, like the 8-0-1 run from 03-17??? Or maybe the 8 of 10 Nebraska took before Iowa's current run??? I mean, how do you really pin it down with Iowa's inability to win more than 3 straight, untill now???

Go to the Iowa board and you will find Fire KF threads aplenty, usually after every loss. We have been frustrated as hell at our anemic offense and it's utterly ridiculous some of the qbs Kirk has trotted out there. We make no secret of this.
What's true is it's great to beat your border rivals, especially on the final game of the season. Go to the gopherhole and you'll find they are VERY happy to have beaten Wisconsin. It's just the way it is.
This is a bittersweet season for Iowa with the four close losses. Probably more bitter than sweet, but nevertheless it was fun whoopin' up on border rivals NE, MN, and WI. You'll just have to trust me on that.
