Your thoughts if Stoops makes no changes to the coaching staff?

I believe there is a good chance that Ansley leaves on his own to another job.

But outside of that, how optimistic would you be if Stoops doesn't do some shaking up to his coaching staff?

Personally, I believe he needs to change out at least 2 spots.

If we fire Dawson and hire an experienced OC who runs a pro style. I think we make a bowl. If we keep Dawson i will not renew my season tickets because with him I think 4-8 immenent.

Frankly, it's all on Stoops anyway regardless of what changes he makes or doesn't make. You and I can wail and gnash our teeth all we want about poor OL play, poor ST play, poor WR play (to name a few), but if Stoops wants to keep certain guys on staff, I'm OK with it at this point. If he wants to shake up his staff, I'm OK with that too.

Agree, if asst changes are to come it'll be after the '16 season. Still, wouldn't be surprised to see Mainord eventually go.

My thought would be he must have great confidence in all of them than, and that whatever problems they had have been fixed or are fixable, becasue honestly, in 2016 CMS is going to have his back against the wall. If we have another season like the one we just endured it's hard to see how he can survive.

I find it immaterial when compared to next season's W/L record. Stoops will rise or fall on the W/L record.

I think Stoops doesn't get rid of anyone this year. If things aren't any better next year he will get rid if some assistants. That will allow him another year reprieve with the fans.

No changes means a similar season if not worse next year. Worse means we have a brand new staff at the helm in 2017

After over 40+ yrs I think I'm out of optimism... Until I start seeing some concrete results I don't have any

Rockford's right. It doesn't matter what we think. It comes down to wins and losses. If we win the staff will be cheered. Lose and the staff will be jeered.

Funny, but I remember people blasting Joker for trying to implement a pro style offense. Claiming a spread, pass happy offense was the only way to win at UK. Now, with our anemic OL, a pro style is the way to go?

Exactly what I've been thinking. No solid changes and upgrades no ticket renewal. Staying the same shows complacency and they way things went last year is acceptable

I liked the Stoops hire at the time. If he does not try to improve the team ie......by changing assistant coaches he wont be a HC after his stint here at UK. Its up to him really. He was 47 years old getting his first HC job. Old by almost all standards, especially in the SEC. I would do whatever was necessary if I were him. I am fairly confident he wont. The Joker Vandy game will look like 200,000 people compared to where it will be with another 5-7 next year. Honestly I think we will be lucky to be 5-7. Its a way tougher schedule imo.

Stoops is in the best position to know what his assistants are doing. Firing someone just because the fans thinks he needs to go is not too smart. All the position coaches are in the same boat in that the majority of players are young and inexperienced.

Fer example, the OL coach probably has the hardest job because it usually takes 3 years of maturity to be able to compete against the Jr. and Senior lineman in the SEC. The offensive line was our weakest group and it may not necessarily be the coaches fault, but Stoops should know and will make the decision to keep or let go.

Firing coaches doesn't always fix the problem especially if its coming from some impatient fans that seems to think its the only way to go. You should also remember the assistant may be responsible for
some of the incoming recruits who could change their mind. jmho

I don't think he is apathetic, I think he truly believes what he is doing is right and that the people he hired are who needs to be here. That, IMO, will be his downfall.

maybe after 5 years Barnhart will let him spend some money on coaches but for now it seems that the marching order are go recruit and just get by. maybe we'll spend some money on coaches when you have more talent.

it didn't have to be said. there was a USA today story just this week indicating we are 30th in spending for assistants with most of the SEC in the top 10. we clearly aren't spending now to compete and if we make no changes will remain so.

For years Mike Brown put all the big NLF TV money in his pocket and short-changed the fans and the city with the least-expensive Bengal product he could produce
There is so much guaranteed money for UK from the SEC by just putting any product on the field that they can't afford not to, even if it is the least effective
