Unreal that Chicago will be hosting Three STATE SEMIFINALS ( MC, Rice, & Rita..may as well throw in Burbank St. Laurence too). 10, 1, & 4, & 7pm would be great start times..HA

Top 3: Naz v Fenwick, RB v Byron, St. Rita v Batavia

They would never let a semifinal start at that time, but man would that be amazing!

Could East Side clock St. Laurence by halftime?
Man honestly, besides Mt Carmel, I can’t see anyone on the same planet with the Flyers, in IHSA. We beat ourselves most times when we lose in-state games. Mt Carmel is the standard. Year in and year out. The consistency is remarkable.
Now that’s all the props I’m giving to the the Caravans lol
We really need to play in 8a, period. That’s the level of excellence we want. That’s the competition we seek. It needs to happen, every year. Regardless of enrollment. Not knocking any other program. We can lose on any given Friday or Saturday but we want all the smoke! And until we beat the mighty Mt Carmel, we can’t honestly say we are the standard. Them boys stay ready..My 2 cents..

6A ain’t it. No way a quarterfinals should have turned out the way it did today. I mean it looked like we were playing Granite City. And I’m not knocking anyone but c’mon man!!! Why do we have to wait until state for a competitive game. We want the LWE, Loyola, Main South, Downers Grove smoke! Football gods, Make it happen..

Not gonna happen in Illinois. Across all classes there was only 7 one score games in the quartefinals.

Saturday's forecast looks like upper 40s with a chance of rain in the Chicago area. If this matters to those ranking top 3 matchups.

So you’re saying Coal City is better than Morris? Coal City was actually in a competitive game for 3 quarters. They had their chances to score but did not get it done. Morris is a much better team than Coal City. I think you’re way off on this one.
Agree, I think Montini wins but watching Morris/Metamora in Round 2 I think this one is much closer than some here think.

I disagree with the "much better"

There is a huge gap between the top teams and the rest. Expect blowouts to continue the next two weeks. Seed them however you like and the results would be the same. MC, BR, ESL, Montini are going to win by a lot vs whomever you line them up against.
I agree. It's looking like beat downs on Finals Friday and Saturday. Hopefully, there are a couple of competitive fun games to watch in there ..... somewhere .... maybe?

I’m not sure about “much better”, but I will definitely say Morris has the edge in that comparison.

The two teams are actually very similar, but yeah, Morris does everything probably a little better than CC.

CC was kinda sorta hanging around for a while, they got into Bronco territory consistently, but they just couldn’t finish off drives. Any of them. Morris I gotta figure would have to find a way to score at least 28, but Montini is just really really good. They would probably be the favorites if they were in 5A.

I think there is skepticism surrounding Morris’ team based on their performance against JCA in the playoffs the last few years. It seems when they go up against a quality private school, they are no longer competitive. And I suspect this Montini team is as good or better than the JCA teams who beat Morris handily the last few years.

Morris definitely has their hands full. Montini is awfully good.

CC had a really hard time running the ball. If Morris can run it a little bit, that would bode well for them.

Hopefully somehow it’s a good one, but Morris is a pretty big underdog here.

On the topic of Semifinal games, why have there been no games scheduled beyond a 5PM start time? I understand some schools may not have lights and need to bring them in. Is there any real benefit besides that to having them at 1/2PM as opposed to 7PM?

Some schools like playing under the lights. By this time of year, sunset is around 4:45 so a 5pm kickoff is perfect.

I believe Naz is limited to the number of night games they can host due to neighborhood ordinance. Not sure on others.

MC literally almost lost in round 1.

I dont want to hijack a thread…all I’d like is to never see a quarterfinal game like what SF had ever again.

Big difference playing a rematch a week later against a conference rival. History shows that not many games in the playoffs are close. Looks like a few this week could be great but a lot will likely be 21+ lines.

Rank the top three you think will be the best games
SF Belvidete N. I find very intriguing as I and many of s know very little about BN. What’s the old line from Butch and an Sundance “hey, who are those guys”

Byron RB. Similar to above. All I’ve heard all season long is about Byron and IC. All I know about RB is that they got a lot of W’s

Batavia Rita. Again, we know Batavia is loaded and Rita, a 5-4 team is coming along. The only Rita game I watched was vs IC, and I’m sorry but they could have won by 30 or more if they chose to

Obviously I think the keys to making this competitive is the Morris defense and the overall discipline. Morris has historically shot itself in the foot with penalties, not necessarily the PHYSICAL ones but more so the MENTAL ones. Also, it seems like in the games that I have watched that end up being close, there is alot of missed tackles. Now I know there are going to be missed tackles as these are 15-18 year old kids out there and some are caused by a superior or talented athlete forcing that miss. But it seems like the ones that come back to haunt any team are those tackles that are normally made 95% of the time but for some reason on that given play do not happen. I am HOPING for a competitive game but there is no doubt that Montini is a VERY VERY good team. Morris will have to give their best effort to have a chance. I'm thinking winner will score 40 points minimum. I would have to think Montini is +21 on the early lines, wouldn't you think?

According to Massey, Montini is favored by 12…predicting 38-26
