^^What Shmu said! All day^^

For some reason I'd feel so much better if we had, say, a Greg Byrne-esque AD.

But hell apparently at MSU we can't even have (or keep) a decent athletic director.

Get the ok from Keenum to spend the amount it takes to hire Bruce Pearl. Then hire Bruce Pearl. Also ask about Gregg Marshall. It's going to cost a lot to fix this boys. We ain't poor Ol Miss St anymore. Write a big *** check.

Well Ray kinda set himself up for the game Wed by saying something along the lines of "Our game Wed will be an indication of how our season will be next year" Anyone have the direct quote?

I don't see Pearl happening either.

Yea we know. Are you an MSU fan first and foremost though? Tennessee just slaughtered their third team in a row so Pearl ain't going there. Grant is rumored to be getting another year at Bama. Georgia will give Fox another year at least. That leaves Auburn. MSU vs Auburn for HC. I like our odds if we commit to the hiring completely. Why would Pearl pick Auburn over us? We have more than a fighters chance against Auburn for Bruce Pearl. He's going to go to an SEC school most likely.

Let's put it this way, if he ends up at Auburn or MSU, he's run out of options. I would expect him to stay in TV before settling for those jobs.

I will stick with my theory that if Pitino retires and Jurich strikes out on his A list, he wouldn't be afraid to approach Pearl. And if offered, Pearl would jump at that chance.

Ain't a shot in hell the defending National Champs hire Bruce Pearl. They'd offer the job to 10 others first before hiring a coach just coming off a 3 year BAN. Pearl ain't getting top of the line job offers right out the gate. He's got to work his way back up to that status.

Make the parking along E Lee Blvd pay parking on game days. And give away a Maroon Boston hat.

There is a better chance that the Pearls move to Louisville than to Starkville. I'm still waiting on somebody to answer last week's question: Why would Pearl WANT the MSU job? And "he needs a job" doesn't count. Did you not learn anything last basketball search? Or any basketball search for that matter?

The truth is Pearl doesn't need a job and he can afford to pick his spot. And just because the job seems attractive to you, doesn't mean its attractive to people who actually - you know - coach.

As for Louisville, did you not read the part about Jurich working through his A list? Did you miss the Petrino hire? UofL football has never been better and they are heading to the ACC. There was a lot of interest in the job, but what did Jurich do? He hired a guy that guys like you were saying had to "work his way back up".

While I generally agree with you, I don't think Louiville's athletic director cares much about the character of his coaches. See Louisville football.

First thing I would do is make sure he is aware the NCAA allows up to 13 scholarship players per season.

And I'd sign a couple extra because there will be attrition after the two seasons we just had.

No, he is a Kentucky fan. I've yet to figure out why he has been posting here for so many years. So to me, his opinion does not count because it's not in our best interest anyway.

Buy Gregg Ellis a beer

for having to promote a product that would be discontinued in any other situation.

Stricklin had the ok the spend the $ last time; he blew it. I have stated it numerous times on this page. Yes, perhaps, Stans stayed too long, but the program could still have been saved with the right hire. That part is totally on Stricklin and absolutely noone else.

Respectfully disagree ...

He's not going anywhere until at least after next season. Pointless conversation.

NOW is the time for Stricklin to lay out reasonable expectations for year THREE. Granted, Ray took over a bad situation but going from 4-14 with a win in the SECT year one to a 3-15 + 0 wins in the SECT in year two ... is a big step BACK.

RR has to got to show 'significant' improvement in year three or he shouldn't get a year four.

Last BB coach fired at State after only three years was Jim Hatfield and he had a ~ 39% SEC win percentage which is about TWICE what Rick Ray's is at . Meanwhile, no other modern BB coach has at ~ 19%.

We should look at Coach K, Bo Ryan, Boeheim, and Izzo too.
They are as realistic as Marshall.
