Is it “ butt naked” or “ buck naked” ? I’ve heard both used but never could decipher which was correct. If both are correct , what’s the difference?
Unsure, but I have it on good authority from the late, great, Lewis Grizzard that "naked" is just having no clothes on, whereas "nekkid" is being up to something with no clothes on...

… the word’s sense meaning “a male American Indian or African-American” (this sense of buck is considered offensive).

I did not know that was an offensive term specifically for a certain race.
I feel like “young buck” is a normal phrase I’ve heard used in reference to athletes but maybe I’m wrong about that?

Also, naked traditionally connotes an aspect of vulnerability, while nude simply means without clothes on.
