The reason Greinke says, is “Come on man. The Nationals suck even worse than the Royals. I’m tired of playing for losers. I mean look at that line up. If I give up 2 runs you can just forget about it. Screw that, dawg. At least in Milwaukee they have good beer.”

Greinke explains why Nationals were nixed

JUST WIN, BABY: Zack Greinke spoke about rejecting a trade to the Nationals in favor of the Brewers, turning down an extension that would have been worth over $100 million.</p>

The Nationals have Ryan Zimmerman and Jayson Werth who are both better than anyone on Kansas City right except for arguably Billy Butler, who can't play defense and Joakim Soria, a lights out closer that is practically useless for them in 100 games. Then the Nats have Ivan Rodriguez, a Hall of Fame catcher that is past his prime and Drew Storen.

I will say this on behalf of KC- they allegedly have the best farm system in the Majors right now- Mike Moustakas, Eric Hosmer, Mike Montgomery, John Lamb, Wil Myers, and on and on. They also got Alcedis Escobar from the Brewers for Grienke, and he could be a pretty good SS in a couple of years.

Of course, DC has Strasburg, Drew Storen, and Bryce Harper.

The Nats may still be a 2-3 years away from competing, but they're much better off than the Royals. Granted, that doesn't mean they're in any better shape to make the playoffs. I'm guessing that's what Greinke meant. <div>
</div><div>As for prospects/farm systems, I'm guessing the Nats are getting a little depleted, but they do have guys like Espinosa, Desmond, Bernadina, and Morse that are ready to contribute this year.</div>

even taking defense into account.

i think the Royals have the better 5 years or decade than the Nats. especially if they stop hoarding Braves rejects.</p>

"The one thing I couldn’t get over was the fact that, here I was trying
to get out of Kansas City because the team wasn’t good," Greinke said.
"Not saying [the Nationals] don’t have a chance, but I was trying to get
to a team that was looking really good at the moment. And I believe
[the Nationals] will be good eventually."

As long as Dayton Moore is with KC. I think the Braves rejects are simply stopgaps until their prospects are ready. I actually want to see the Omaha Storm Chasers- KC's AAA team. They might be better than the Royals themselves. I just hope Ned Yost survives the rebuilding- I've always liked him.

I would take Werth as an outfielder and Dunn as a DH.
