he had 40 catches in 2023 at Mississippi State. Never should have left.
Didn't look like MVB was having a good time either from what I saw when Nuss was out. He might not be the starter next year for them depending the coach. So I wonder where he ends up.he had 40 catches in 2023 at Mississippi State. Never should have left.
Dude was committed to Oregon and then chose to come to Mississippi State. Now he might have been dropped by Oregon which seems more likely. I bet he ends up at Maryland which is where he is from.Didn't look like MVB was having a good time either from what I saw when Nuss was out. I said when MVB transferred to LSU that he would never start a meaningful game for them unless it was by injury. He was a backup option in case Nussmeier got hurt, and after this season, LSU will go into the portal again and get another quarterback.Dude was committed to Oregon and then chose to come to Mississippi State. Which is crazy because with his experience last year he could have battled Shapen for the start and probably won.I said when MVB transferred to LSU that he would never start a meaningful game for them unless it was by injury. No he wouldn't have.Which is crazy because with his experience last year he could have battled Shapen for the start and probably won.
Meh shape is a decent qb at times. Other times he isn't. MVB had an almost full season of experience and would have been in the system his second year. Shapen hasn't played a full season since like four years ago at Baylor so I would say it would have been a fair shot to say he could have won the job had he stayed. He had way more talent than Shapen. It's a moot point now. I don't think I would take him back and he wouldn't come back anyway. Taylor has a lot of upside and I'm interested to see what he can do with a couple of starts. No he wouldn't have.
The eventual goal is to make the NFL so they might regret it later. But if I had a shot to make the NFL - LSU far greater than MSU as a WR. Just his production won't get him to the NFL.I think its pretty silly to think that they “shouldn’t have left”. I guarantee you neither regrets their decision. It was never about playing time for either one of them.
Shapen 65% completions, MVB 54%, Shapen 8.3 YPA, MVB 7.4, Shapen 148.6 QBR, MVB 125.3. That QB competition wouldn't have been close.Meh shape is a decent qb at times. Other times he isn't. but I'm also all for getting a good experience qb in the portal as well from a smaller school and giving them a shot as well. One that might be under radar of bigger programs
If Zavion had an NFL future, he’d already be there. WR’s that start for 3 years don’t need a 4th year to show out for scouts. He’s not an NFL guy.The eventual goal is to make the NFL so they might regret it later. But if I had a shot to make the NFL - LSU far greater than MSU as a WR. It seems to me he can carve you up when he has time but against the best teams in our conference he will never have enough consistent time.Meh shape is a decent qb at times. Other times he isn't. I had heard his head isn't in it. Not a good locker room guy. Bad at watching film. Showing up late. Stuff like that. Asked for more $ and we told him to go and get it. I bet you are right about Maryland - or at least back to the east coast.Dude was committed to Oregon and then chose to come to Mississippi State. I mean, there is the idea that football is fun and playing and being a star is more fun than being a role player. If LSU is paying $100k per year more to be a role player, then he probably should take it. Just too expensive to give up that much money to get more playing time. But if it's $25k a year? I don't know, if your family isn't starving for money, that's less than college tuition at a lot of places. Plus actually being on the field and being in highlights opens doors for you if you have the right skill set. If you go into some type of sales, just being a DI player that got playing time is interesting, but being a starter and key piece of an SEC team, even if it's one of the non-blue bloods, will probably open up more doors? If Zavion had an NFL future, he’d already be there. WR’s that start for 3 years don’t need a 4th year to show out for scouts. He’s not an NFL guy.
MVB is similar. Likely not NFL guy, so getting paid while he can.
That’s the worst thing about this environment. There’s no reason for good but not elite college players to do anything else besides sell out to the highest bidder every single year.
I don't think it's a coincidence our locker room seems more unified than last year. Got rid of a couple of guys.I had heard his head isn't in it. Not a good locker room guy. Bad at watching film. But KT really hasn't done anything to show we can win with him.It seems to me he can carve you up when he has time but against the best teams in our conference he will never have enough consistent time.
KT doesn't need time he may still scramble if he has time. In a weird way his inexperience plays better with this s show offensive line we have.
Shapen is the better QB and the better option against teams our o line can handle. Outside of that I'd go with KT, moving the pocket, misdirection, play action and tons of QB runs. As a FR he is a rich man's Sleepy.
Yes I agree but he can also be pretty streaky just like rogers was where he misses his reads pretty bad even when he does have time or over throws it. He's not going to be perfect of course. But he's not in anyone's top 25 qbs in ncaa either.Shapen has shown time and again hes pretty 17ing good when he has a little time to throw.
short term gamble and not a wise one sadly for himhe had 40 catches in 2023 at Mississippi State. Never should have left.
If we had an above average offensive line in pass blocking he'd be top 20 easily.Yes I agree but he can also be pretty streaky just like rogers was where he misses his reads pretty bad even when he does have time or over throws it. This. We have a very small sample size (mostly in garbage time or vs Alcorn), but he's made a lot of really terrible throws and decisions. He's made several really good plays too. But is he going to be able to make enough of the good plays to offset the bad ones on the road vs a top 25 team up until last weekend? But KT really hasn't done anything to show we can win with him.
Has he made some great plays? yes, but hes also made some really bad plays. You can't consistently miss wide open receivers. And you can't run it 75% of the time either.
Do you have a copy of his bank statement? If you don't in this day and age you can't make a statement like that.Never should have left.
Sure you can. You just make the statement.Do you have a copy of his bank statement? If you don't in this day and age you can't make a statement like that.

You also can't be a pocket passer against top teams with this o line....better get the ball out quick err time. But KT really hasn't done anything to show we can win with him.

I don’t disagree with this. We have to scheme around that. You also can't be a pocket passer against top teams with this o line....better get the ball out quick err time.
