Cavalier, Emerald or Zeon? Palisades is the most popular according to these people but I like the thin soft blades. St. Augustine is really popular here as is Bermuda, but after feeling all of them I'm leaning toward Emerald.

This is the website for the place that I am getting it. Any thoughts?

Edited to add that I live in Austin Hill Country (rocky base) and am sodding 2500 sq feet. Almost full sun.

Go with either zorro or empire. Those have the finer blades. If not don't do zoysia. Be aware that either of those types will need periodic thatching. The other types have bigger blades and look like some of the cheaper grasses.

Closest dealer is in the Memphis area for zorro. However to look its best zorro needs to be cut with a reel mower. Empire will look good using a rotary. Zorro. Is the rolls royce of grass and has to be maintained as such.

I am a Landscape Architect & own a design build firm in Austin. I would want to know what kind of sun exposure you are dealing with as well as existing soils. If you are in the hill country it is most likely very alkaline & you will want to install at least 3" of good neutral planting soil prior to laying the sod (Geogrowers in Dripping Springs has a great turf soil).

I can get any of these Zoysias, but most often use Jamur in Austin. I have Palisades at my personal home, but I also have heavy shade. Either Emerald or Zorro would be great for the hill country, but I find the Zorro to be a slightly finer texture. Regardless, the most important thing is proper soil preparation prior to laying the sod.

I would be happy to provide a quote.
