I can't believe no one has responded to this! If you like rock and roll, they are great live and they've been around longer than most. Best show in Starkville in years!

Saw them years ago in Biloxi. George Thorogood was the opening act.
Inexplicably, My Head's In Mississippi was not on the set list.

You might not see him in person, but he'll see you just the same

I've seen ZZ 4-5 times. Spent my high school and college days hanging out around downtown Memphis. Seen, spoke too and have a few autographs from Billy G. These guys put on a great show and I never get tired of their music.

Sitting at the bar in the Peabody mid-afternoon one week day in the winter of 1988. Actually skipping the last session of a day of boring manufacturer meetings I was attending. Guy comes and sits beside me and I didn`t look over to see who it was for several minutes. Looked over and about chocked on my beer..it was Dusty Hill. Struck up a conversation and bought him a drink. Nice guy. They use to stay at the Peabody and hang out in the delta...soaking up some blues history I suppose. They also came in Lusco`s in Greenwood one night when we were there . One my all time favorite groups. Dudes abide.

Lotta blues musicians travel to MS to learn the origins and history of it. Pretty cool stuff. ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, bunch of others. Hell, even U2 and they obviously aren't a blues group.

The MS Blues Trail is awesome.

Billy Gibbons' guitar playin' prowess received props from Jimi Hendrix. Hard to beat that kind of endorsement. Jimi said on the Tonight show that Billy was the best young guitarist in the biz. But in unreal fashion, Rolling Stone didn't even have him in the top 30 of their 100 greatest guitarists. clueless.

Saw them in Memphis in the early 90's with the Black Crowes opening.

Fantastic show. One of the top 5 best I ever saw.

Even though I'm of blue-hair age now, Imma have to go. The last time I saw them live was when they played in the old Cow Barn (Animal Husbandry Building) in the 70's (I don't remember exactly which year) at MSU. It had the dirt floor and everything but they had a stage set up at the north end of the arena with chairs in the dirt and those 3 hombres filled that place up with sound. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Side note: I also took my wife-to-be to see a Ferrante & Teischer piano concert in the Cow Barn, too - probably the same year, give or take. Music Maker Productions used to have some pretty good first-level acts during that time.

Saw the afterburner tour concert 3 times in 1986. Four of us got permission to check out of school early and drive to Little Rock. They came to Memphis the following weekend. This concert sold out fast enough that they added a second one.
Would never do this again. But it makes for cool conversation.

I saw ZZ Top in the Cotton Bowl during the 1990 "Recycler" tour with Steve Miller and Santana opening up for them. Great show.
