5-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench decommits from Alabama

Five-star Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench has decommitted from Alabama.
He had previously been committed to Alabama since July, when he chose the Crimson Tide over Miami, Florida State, LSU and a handful of other programs.
But after wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins was hired away by Texas A&M and Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban announced his retirement, Ffrench has reopened his recruitment.
And since committing to the Tide last summer, in-state programs like Miami and Florida State haven’t gone anywhere. Ohio State’s Brian Hartline, Georgia, Notre Dame, Michigan and even Wiggins have all been in contact with the five-star pass-catcher, he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman in early January.
“Schools like Georgia are recently hearing about the Wiggins news … Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State … there’s a lot of eyes coming back around and doing a double-check,” Ffrench detailed. “There’s a lot of schools making their rounds back around.”
Florida State’s Mike Norvell is among the coaches keeping a direct line of communication with Ffrench.
“I love the way he recruits you, it’s hard to tell Florida State no, it’s hard to tell Coach Norvell no,” he laughed. “Tramell jokes around a lot and there’s a lot of Florida State stuff that we knick-knack about.”

Miami’s Mario Cristobal has been equally as persistent.
“Definitely the love that Coach Cristobal and Coach (Kevin) Beard shows, they always make group texts and let me know they haven’t forgotten about him and have to get me to campus,” Ffrench said. “They have my OL committed, so they stay on me a lot.”
Hartline, meanwhile, is aiming for a three-peat in landing elite receivers out of Florida and has a weekly FaceTime call scheduled with Ffrench.
“Coach Hartline FaceTime calls me weekly,” he started. “It’s the SFE Family. They’re tied in … it’s like a pipeline to Columbus. They stay on me and tell me they have a spot there reserved. They want me to keep coming to Columbus and hope I end up back at Ohio State.”
Jaime Ffrench Scouting Summary
“Savvy receiver with advanced route-running skills. Measured at around 6-foot-1, 185 pounds in the off-season prior to his junior year. Tests as a solid athlete in the combine setting. Shows elite change of direction and start-stop ability on Friday nights and in the camp setting. Easily changes gears within his routes. Capable of stacking corners off the line and shows shake at the top of his routes. Flashed coordination and the ball skills to make fantastic one-handed grabs at camps. Shifty after the catch. A competitive prospect who showed up to seemingly every event in the off-season. Can clean up concentration drops as he can lose focus at times. Projects as one of the top receivers in the 2025 cycle in large part due to his well rounded, technical skill set.”
