Every college football fan remembers Auburn‘s Kick-Six to defeat Alabama in 2013. However, not everybody is familiar with the aftermath for Crimson Tide kicker Cade Foster.

Prior to Alabama’s last-second field-goal attempt, Foster had missed three field goals. Consequently, the team had freshman Adam Griffith attempt to kick the game-winning field goal instead. As everybody now knows, Griffith missed and Auburn’s Chris Davis returned it 109 yards for a touchdown.

During an appearance on McCready & Siskey, 2013 Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron revealed the hilarious story of how Foster’s teammates punished him for his lackluster performance in the Iron Bowl.

“The next day, we’re doing our sprints, to jog our 110s, and he goes to put his shoe on in the locker room, and all you hear is, ‘Oh, what’s this? Oh, my God, who did this?’ And everybody starts coming around,” McCarron recalled. “He pulls this white sock out of his shoe. It’s covered in sh*t.

“Somebody done sh*t in his shoe and filled it up. And I was like, ‘Damn.’ And I just remember going to the team meeting and somebody said — I think it was Saban — he was like, ‘Somebody better f***ing confess to this sh*t in the shoe. We’re not gonna have this sh*t. If you don’t want to come f***ing confess, I’m gonna get samples and test everybody’s DNA.’

“I’m sitting with [Scott] Cochran. Cochran’s dying laughing. Like, we’re up at the top. I’m turned and just head down, like trying not to die laughing in this meeting. I mean, it was unreal. I still, to this day, have no clue who sh*t in his shoe.”

AJ McCarron can’t be blamed for the loss. The former Crimson Tide QB was electric that night, completing 17-of-his-29 pass attempts for 277 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception.

As for Foster, after graduating from Alabama later that year, he went on to study at the university’s law school. He now serves in Kentucky as the McCracken County Attorney. Perhaps in his free time, he’s still investigating the mysterious case of who defecated in his shoe all those years ago.
