Jalen Milroe addresses pressure of being Alabama starting QB
There is obviously some pressure associated with being the starting quarterback at the University of Alabama. The Crimson Tide have high expectations every season, and the play of the quarterback plays a large role in determining how successful a season is. Current Alabama signal caller Jalen Milroe doesn’t see that as a negative, though.
Instead, Milroe embraces being the player who leads the Crimson Tide’s offense.
“With pressure, I see it as a positive thing,” Jalen Milroe said ahead of Saturday’s game against Tennessee. “We shouldn’t fear pressure at all. How I see fear is ‘Face Everything And Rise’ and see everything as an opportunity, for sure.”
It has been an up-and-down season for Milroe thus far. The redshirt sophomore was benched following a loss to Texas in Week 2. But he has also had a lot of positive moments this year.
Milroe believes that everything starts with preparation. He prepares hard each week and feels confident as he goes out on the field.
“Preparation is very key to any success. And I think that’s my biggest thing. That’s what I try to do as much as possible,” Milroe said. “Be prepared for any situation that may happen. So there’s nothing to be too tense about or stressed about, by any means. I think the biggest thing is just being prepared as much as possible.”
Finally, Milroe added that it’s important to have the right people around you, whether it’s players on the field or family and friends supporting you.

He believes he has that at Alabama.
“To say I can do anything by myself, I don’t believe in that,” Milroe said. “It takes a great team, it takes a whole village. And I have great guys around me to help me push through any situation. So I’m blessed to have a great support system and I know I can thrive in any situation.”
Jalen Milroe shares what sticks with him from last year’s Tennessee loss
Jalen Milroe will be right in the thick of the action for Saturday’s game against Tennessee, after being a backup when the Crimson Tide lost last year’s game in heartbreaking fashion.
Milroe spoke this week about his memories from last year’s loss.
“I would say one thing, the atmosphere was great. The atmosphere was great,” explained Milroe. “Our fans are going to be great this weekend, I know that for sure. With the juice they bring, the energy they bring. I’m excited for that. But of course, we didn’t come out on top during the game, so we have to look at it as a learning moment. Not linger in that, but to learn with some things we did wrong during that game, and try to improve for this game.
“Just acknowledge that we’re not a finished product, by any means. So I think that’s very key, and like I said, there’s a challenge that’s going to be held this weekend, so we’re excited to, you know, face it this weekend.”
