Alabama linebacker Quandarrius Robinson arrested early Sunday morning

Alabama linebacker Quandarrius Robinson has been arrested for a DUI after being involved in a car accident early Sunday, according to The Athletic’s Aaron Suttles.
Robinson, entering his second season with Alabama, did not see the field last year. He was rated as a four-star prospect and was the top ranked player in the state of Alabama according to 247 Sports. Robinson originally played safety before transitioning to defensive end and outside linebacker. Coming out of high school, Robinson was projected as an impact defensive player in college football and was projected to eventually be selected in the NFL Draft.
Robinson chose Alabama over multiple SEC schools
Robinson committed to Alabama in June of 2019 before officially signing in December of 2019. He was originally committed to Auburn, but later decommitted before signing with Alabama. The Birmingham, Alabama native stands at six-foot-five and 220 pounds and played high school football at Birmingham’s Jackson-Olin High School.
Multiple big programs offered Robinson before he landed with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. He chose Alabama over Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, and Mississippi State. Robinson also had an unofficial visit to Nebraska and an official visit to Kentucky.
Robinson did not see the field on Alabama’s undefeated national championship team last year. He was expected to play a backup role on the Crimson Tide defense in 2021. Despite losing multiple defensive contributors, Alabama has a strong group of linebacker. Will Anderson, Christian Harris, Henry To’o To’o, and Christopher Allen make up an experienced and talented group.

Alabama needs a strong defensive performance this season
The losses of multiple key contributors on offense has been the biggest focus of Alabama’s preseason camp. As the Crimson Tide transition to a new offensive coordinator in Bill O’Brien and a new quarterback in Bryce Young, some growing pains could be present to start the season. The offense might not be as dominant as it was last season.
This makes it that much more important for the defense to be strong this season. Kirk Herbstreit is very high on Alabama’s defense entering the season. Miami and Alabama face off to start the year, and Herbstreit noted the tough test ahead of Miami.
“I’m going to tell you right now, I know we live in an offensive era,” Herbstreit said when asked about Miami’s chances against Alabama. “But if you’re not familiar with Alabama, in 2021 they’re going to be back to being a dominant defense. D’Eriq (King) and the ‘Canes offense, they’re going up against, to me, the best defense in the country.”
