Bryce Young discusses performance in past scrimmage, excitement surrounding A-Day
It’s an exciting time in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as the Alabama Crimson Tide football team’s annual A-Day game is quickly approaching. As nearly all of Tuscaloosa lives and breathes Alabama football, everyone is excited to be back at Bryant-Denny Stadium and watching the Tide compete on the field Saturday afternoon.
While the fans are looking forward to watching some football this weekend, the Alabama team is excited to be back playing in front of them – especially standout quarterback Bryce Young. While Young put together a dominant season in 2021, which included 4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns and a Heisman Trophy, he’s ready to be back on the field with the Crimson Tide in a game setting.
Meeting with the media on Tuesday, Young expressed his excitement for A-Day – while also saying that Alabama’s latest spring practice scrimmage didn’t go so well. However, Young noted that the spring is the time to correct mistakes, so the Tide will be just fine moving forward.

“I think there’s a lot of stuff for us to clean up,” Young said. “We didn’t have our sharpest scrimmage this past weekend. A lot of that’s ’cause of me. I think that spring is a time for us to kind of iron out the kinks, for us to grow and get better. You’re always going to come into obstacles. … I think we know that, but at the same time we know we can’t be complacent. We can’t be OK with any shortcomings that we have.
“I’m excited for A-Day – super excited. Another chance to compete, a chance for the fans to come in. Whenever you get that support from the community and the fans, it means the world to us. I’m super excited for this week of practice to try and iron out some of the kinks.”
Alabama’s A-Day spring game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday.
