As Alabama head coach Nick Saban enters his 16th season at the helm for the Crimson Tide, he’s excited for another season of challenges and developing his team into yet another championship caliber one.

“Well we’re obviously very excited about the challenges of the season, but even more excited about what you have to do to try to develop a team that can play with consistency, guys that can go out there and give the kind of effort, play with a kind of mental toughness, ability to sustain, execute, do their job together as a unit, and have a kind of team chemistry that promotes the togetherness you want on the team so that you can be successful. And then the next challenge is can you sustain that,” Saban said.

The Crimson Tide recently had 28 time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps speak to them, and Saban talked about the importance of his message about choices is to his team’s success this season.

“We’ve had some really good speakers here the last couple nights, but if you sort of boil it down to what’s the message, it’s all about choices. Michael Phelps spoke last night and talked about your actions speak louder than words, you have a short window to really accomplish things as an athlete because it’s not something you can do your entire life, at least as football players. So make a commitment to doing things that you need to do on and off the field that’s going to help you be successful, but that’s also been the message from everybody else, this comes down to choices and decisions, so the kind of choices and decisions the individuals on our team make is going to make the team what it is. We have some good pieces,” Saban said.

Per usual, the Crimson Tide have lofty expectations going into the year, as the USA Today Coaches Poll has them ranked the No.1 team in the country going into the 2022 season. That combined with them bringing talent back like Heisman trophy winner Bryce Young and who many are crowing the best defensive player in the country in Will Anderson surely has them primed for another year of success. But Saban and the Crimson Tide are avoiding that ‘rat poison‘, and focusing on their own choices and competition in house in order to make yet another run at the National Championship.
