WATCH: Alabama quarterback Bryce Young cements hand at Denny-Chimes Walk of Fame
The Denny-Chimes Walk of Fame is a special part of the Alabama Crimson Tide football tradition. In every year since 1947, Alabama’s team captains have cemented their hands on the base of the Walk of Fame. Now, that tradition occurs as part of the team’s A-Day festivities, ahead of the spring game. On Saturday, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young cemented his hand in the Walk of Fame, alongside fellow captains from last year’s team, Will Anderson, Phidarian Mathis, and Evan Neal.
Last season was Young’s first as Alabama’s starting quarterback, and it was a memorable one. Young led the Crimson Tide to a SEC Championship victory and a berth in the National Championship game. On the season, young completed 66.9% of his passes for 4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns and seven interceptions, adding three rushing touchdowns on his way to taking home the Heisman Trophy.
Young is excited for his second season as Alabama’s starting quarterback
Even though Young enjoyed great success last season, he is looking to continuing his development as he enters his second year as Alabama’s starting quarterback. Ultimately, the Crimson Tide fell short in the title game last season, and Alabama wants to end next season on top.
For Young, he knows that he and the Alabama offense still has some work to do. There are a lot of new faces on offense, and A-Day will provide a great atmosphere and opportunity to continue getting in sync.

“I think there’s a lot of stuff for us to clean up,” Young said. “We didn’t have our sharpest scrimmage this past weekend. A lot of that’s ’cause of me. I think that spring is a time for us to kind of iron out the kinks, for us to grow and get better. You’re always going to come into obstacles. … I think we know that, but at the same time we know we can’t be complacent. We can’t be OK with any shortcomings that we have.
“I’m excited for A-Day – super excited. Another chance to compete, a chance for the fans to come in. Whenever you get that support from the community and the fans, it means the world to us. I’m super excited for this week of practice to try and iron out some of the kinks.”
