Alabama will throw it back to 2002 on Saturday when they take on Creighton inside Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide will be wearing old-school uniforms against the Blue Jays, and unveiled them ahead of tip-off.

The men’s basketball team brought in Alabama great and former SEC Player of the Year Erwin Dudley to announce the news to the team — who were more than ecstatic to run to the locker room and try on the new, old threads.

Some players showed off their ‘SEC Graduate’ patch and Dudley even pulled up an old picture showing him throwing down a dunk with him in the same jersey. He put on one for old-time’s sake as well.

Before telling them about the jerseys, however, Dudley gave the current Crimson Tide squad some words to take with them heading into Saturday’s matchup.

“You guys have the opportunity to really do something to change the way people look at Alabama,” he said.

While Dudley is likely talking bigger picture, something Alabama basketball has never done is defeat Creighton. The Blue Jays are 3-0 all-time against the Crimson Tide, winning games in 2012, 2016 and 2023, respectively.

Alabama will benefit from having the game played in front of the fans in Tuscaloosa. It’s been 33 days since the Crimson Tide last took the floor inside Coleman Coliseum — which is the longest stretch between home games during men’s basketball season since the 1976-77 season.

Despite their extended stay away from their home floor, Alabama is off to a hot start to the 2024-25 season. They’re currently ranked No. 7 at 7-2 overall, one of five teams in the SEC to crack the AP Top 25 poll this week. This comes after head coach Nate Oats led Alabama to the first-ever Final Four in program history.

The Crimson Tide will tip off vs. the Blue Jays at 8:30 p.m. ET live on the SEC Network. Alabama is an 11.5-point favorite heading into game time.
