Conor Talty chews out long snapper following missed fieid goal vs. Oklahoma

The kicking game has not been too reliable for Alabama this season. While so many spots on the roster are excelling, the same cannot be said for Conor Talty. Another miss came as the first half clock expired on Saturday against Oklahoma, keeping the score at 17-14.
Oklahoma’s Taylor Wein actually got his hand on the ball, sending it to the left of the uprights. ESPN immediately cut its cameras to Talty, who appeared visibly frustrated with the long snapper, David Bird. The snap did come in high, meaning the process took a few extra moments to get going.
Reading lips can be a little difficult. But you can see Talty point his index finger up, possibly signaling something about the high snap. Bird walked right by Talty and headed back into the Alabama locker room. You can check out the full moment here.
This was the third kick attempt of the afternoon for Talty. However, the first two were PATs, being automatic from there this season. It’s been any sort of distance where those from the outside feel like there is not a whole lot of trust coming from Kalen DeBoer.
Further evidence showed that when DeBoer tried to sneak a few more yards out of the offense with just six seconds left on the clock. A quick out route shortened the field for Talty, putting the kick inside of 40 yards. All for nothing, as the unit could not execute.

Now, this storyline might be something to watch coming out of the break. If the Oklahoma defense can continue to play well, a kick might be required by Alabama at some point. Confidence might be low between Talty and his entire operation.
More on Conor Talty, performance throughout 2025 season
As mentioned, extra points have not been a problem for Talty. He entered the day with 32 attempts, making every single one of them. Field goals are where the misses are coming from, sitting at 11 of 16.
Four of those five came during an SEC game. You can add a miss during the nonconference loss to Florida State as well, all being in critical games for Alabama. The miss/blocked attempt to Oklahoma only adds another one to the tally.
This is Talty’s first season as the full-time kicker for Alabama. Only four kicks were on his resume before then, all of which were made extra points.
