Alabama finds itself down a touchdown early against Florida State. Taking the field with the goal of tying the game up, wide receiver Isaiah Horton was not out there. Instead, he was shown riding a bike on the sideline.

ESPN’s Katie George provided the latest on Horton, explaining the injury. No definitive status was given but for now, the Crimson Tide are playing without him. Potentially a big loss in a game where points are going to be needed.

“Isaiah Horton, Alabama wide receiver, in between series spent some time in the injury tent,” George said. “He’s been working out on the stationary bike. They’ve had him do some running behind the bench as well. He pointed to his hip adductor. He said, ‘Something’s not right. It doesn’t feel right.’ So he’s on the sidelines right now, guys.”

Horton transferred to Alabama this offseason after previously being at Miami. Head coach Kalen DeBoer has assembled quite the wide receiver group this season, potentially being one of the bests in college football. Alongside Horton are the likes of Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard.

In 12 games last season, Horton caught 56 passes for 616 yards and five touchdowns. Miami owned a top offense due to future No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. Horton was a huge part of the equation and is hoping for similar success in Tuscaloosa.

“It’s Alabama,” Horton said of his decision to transfer to Alabama back in April. “It’s the standard of college football. All the history that Alabama has, I’ve always wanted to be a part of something like this. Ever since I got here, it’s a dream come true. It’s everything, from the training to the nutrition, equipment, everything is A-1. Everybody is respectful with it. Everything is exactly what I thought it would be.”

Sadly, his official playing days have begun with an injury. Getting on the bike might be a positive sign, as is the running. But until then, Alabama will have to tap into the wide receiver depth a little bit. Ty Simpson is making his first start at quarterback and is familiar with some of the younger guys.

A ton of game remains between Alabama and Florida State. The latter is attempting to pull off quite the upset while DeBoer’s squad wants to start Year 2 of his tenure out with a positive result. Hopefully, a great contest unfolds in front of our eyes.
