Jaylen Key, Ja'Corey Brooks ruled out for remainder of Alabama vs. LSU with injuries
Alabama will be without Jaylen Key and Ja’Corey Brooks for the rest of Saturday’s game against LSU due to injury. CBS’ Jenny Dell provided updates on the two players during the third quarter and said neither will return.
Key went down early in the game and grabbed at his thigh area, BOL’s Charlie Potter reported. He ended up heading to the sidelines with some help. It’s unclear what happened to Brooks, but Dell described it as an upper body injury during her update.
“Bama safety Jaylen Key went down in that first quarter grabbing at his left hip and quad area. He will not return to this game,” Dell said. “And wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks, he is out with an upper extremity injury.”
Key has been a key piece of the Alabama defense this year, entering Saturday’s game ranked third on the Crimson Tide with 45 tackles and adding an interception on the season. Prior to his departure against LSU, he had a tackle and a pass break-up.
As for Brooks, Saturday’s game was just his fourth of the season, and he entered with three receptions for 30 yards. He had a big year last year for Alabama, hauling in 39 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.

Nick Saban raves about how Alabama responded to ‘gut check’ against LSU
Alabama wound up coming back to win the game over LSU 42-28 to extend its winning streak to seven straight games after a Week 2 loss to Texas. It was quite the showing, especially since LSU took the lead on the first drive of the second half.
But Nick Saban saw his team battle back after that and put together a dominant second half to come away with the victory. During his postgame interview, he had nothing but good things to say about his team’s effort.
“The players did a great job in the second half,” Saban said. “Offense did a great job of controlling the ball. Kept the ball away from them. Got a couple big stops on defense when we needed it to go up two scores. That kind of changed the game for us.
“Man, I’m proud of the way our guys competed in the game because it was a tough gut check when they scored right before the half, but they bounced back great in the second half.”
