On3 5-Star Countdown: No. 7, QB Julian Sayin

On3 has updated its recruiting ranking for the 2024 class after the completion of dozens of offseason camps, as well as events like the Elite 11 Finals and Overtime 7v7 Finals. Carlsbad (Calif.) five-star quarterback and Alabama commit Julian Sayin is the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2024 On300, jumping up from No. 18 overall in On3’s previous ranking release.
The latest edition of On3’s 2024 rankings features 15 five-star players, up from 11 in the previous update in April. Of those 15 prospects, seven are already committed to college programs, with five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman and defensive lineman Justin Scott the latest to come off the board to Texas A&M and Ohio State, respectively.
The 6-foot-1.5, 190-pound Sayin became the third pledge of Alabama’s 2024 recruiting class when he announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Nov. 2.
“You think of the consistency, the standard,” Sayin told On3’s Chad Simmons last November. “The track record with quarterbacks, with winning games, draft picks, it’s the standard of college football.”
Sayin’s only seen his stock rise since that pledge. He was named the Elite 11 MVP following a standout weekend in June competing against the nation’s top quarterbacks.

“It’s awesome,” Sayin told BamaOnLine. “There are so many elite players that came before me with this Elite 11 MVP. It’s a really exciting feeling. But I’m just excited to be out here. It’s so much fun to be out here in LA with all these guys.”
Julian Sayin Scouting Summary
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about him as a prospect:
“Potentially the most complete passer of the 2024 recruiting cycle. Checks nearly every box when it comes to positional traits as a quarterback. Throws with a tight, compact release. Beautiful deep ball thrower who consistently hits his receivers in stride. Very comfortable passer on the run, loses little to no velocity when throwing off-platform. Navigates the pocket with ease and with intention. Can drive the ball into tighter windows downfield but can also layer the ball into open space.
…Threw for over 2,700 yards and 27 touchdowns on 66-percent completions with only four interceptions during the 2022 season. Also ran for 154 yards and scored 3 touchdowns on the ground. Decisive passer who reads the field quickly and efficiently. Measures in at just over 6-foot-1, nearly 185 pounds with a 9.5-inch hand. Leaner athletic frame with decent growth potential. Lacks elite arm strength at this point but could develop as he grows into his frame and gets stronger. Arguably the safest quarterback prospect in the country and has every chance to become the first quarterback taken when he declares for the NFL draft.”
