Ryan Grubb and Kalen DeBoer are reunited once again, this time with Alabama. The Crimson Tide leader’s longtime right-hand man on offense took his talents to Tuscaloosa this offseason, joining DeBoer after a season in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.

It has DeBoer and Alabama fans more excited than ever. Grubb showed off his impressive offensive mind during the stops at Fresno State and Washington with the head coach, and now he’ll have his best shot at the college level to continue making a name for himself at Alabama.

All told, DeBoer couldn’t be happier. He took the podium at SEC Media Days to elaborate on his feelings, with Grubb back in the fold. The duo is ready to cook up some greatness for Alabama’s offense.

“When a guy puts in as much time, giving it everything he has, to the program I’m a part of and working alongside him, it was one of those moments that was, you know, bittersweet, right? Because you want him here with you, here at Alabama. But also someone you’ve coached with for 12, 13 years, known for even longer — what an opportunity to go be a coordinator in the NFL. I thought he had a great year. He did an amazing job. He was certainly ready, prepared for it,” DeBoer stated, regarding Grubb’s season with the Seahawks.

“Things happen for a reason. Him getting a chance to come here and just add to our staff at the level we’re talking about, he’s an elite, elite, offensive mind. Our familiarity with each other, the efficiency we have, when it comes to the day-to-day work, whether it’s off-season, in-season, it certainly helps us, you know, gain even more momentum going into this fall. But the rest of the staff has been awesome, with how they’ve embraced Ryan Grubb coming in. The players have, as well.

“You know, Ryan’s hit the ground running and added some things, on the things he’s learned. I mean, when you go through your career, every year you’re going to get better, if you have the right mindset. There’s no place you’re going to get more better and be put in tougher spots than in the NFL. Love what he’s brought, on top of what our systems always been and how we’ve evolved to make us even better this fall.”

Alas, it’s evident Kalen DeBoer believes Ryan Grubbs’ immense experience, as well as their previous working relationship, will lead to some great things for Alabama. Time will tell if he’s right, but bet against the Crimson Tide at your own risk.
