Alabama got out of Columbia with a win over South Carolina, extending the winning streak to seven games. Now, a bye week takes place and Kalen DeBoer is giving his team an opportunity to rest up. Four games remain for the Crimson Tide, beginning with LSU at home on Nov. 8.

Halfway through the week, DeBoer provided a few injury updates on key guys. He began with a pair of wide receivers, Lotzeir Brooks and Isaiah Horton. The former missed the entire South Carolina game, while Horton did not appear much throughout. Alabama can be thankful, though, as both appear to be on the right track.

“I expect those guys to be ready to go for LSU,” DeBoer said Wednesday on the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “Lottie was especially rolling out there today and making good progress. Isaiah just got dinked up in the first half there. He’s making good progress too. But I would expect the both of them to be ready for LSU.”

Wide receiver might be the deepest room Alabama has on the roster. Even with the likes of Brooks and Horton out, Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams feature as star players. Other youngsters, such as Rico Scott and Derek Meadows, appear to have the trust of the coaching staff as well. Still, getting everyone back healthy is a priority.

Kalen DeBoer gives latest on Qua Russaw

Flipping over to the defensive side, Qua Russaw has not played since Alabama was in Athens. A big-time presence remains missing for Kane Wommack‘s bunch. But DeBoer says Russaw is progressing nicely, even if they are unsure of the exact timeline moving forward.

“He’s doing really good. On a timeline that we had hoped, maybe even a little bit ahead. But don’t know exactly what that’s going to be, we’re not quite there yet. He’s making great progress and you can see it, even in his face, he’s feeling good about the direction it’s going and can’t wait to get back out there.”

Russaw recorded a sack during the home game against Wisconsin. He holds three total tackles on the season, hoping to put up better numbers upon return. Nobody in Tuscaloosa will complain about getting another pass rusher out there, needing to bring a few more quarterbacks to the ground.

Alabama gets to sit back and watch some other games unfold on Saturday. From there, a push to make the College Football Playoff takes place — hopefully with healthy bodies.
