Nick Saban addresses improvement, mentality he's seen from offensive line

The Alabama offensive line is under new leadership as Eric Wolford joins the program from Kentucky. So far, he’s making a good impression.
Nick Saban discussed the improvements he’s seeing from the offensive line under Wolford, who also worked at South Carolina before working for Kentucky in 2021. In fact, he said he thinks the offensive line is even taking strides off the field — from a mental standpoint.
“I’m encouraged by the improvements that we’ve made in the offensive line,” Saban said. “We seem to have a little better mentality. I think the personality of their coach has definitely added something to the mentality of how we play and what we’re doing and how we’re doing it. I think the personality of the players is certainly something that has been a real positive in terms of how they’ve approached things and what they’ve tried to do.
“So I feel more comfortable in the running game that we have, and we’re able to pass protect, I think, a little better. I’ve been really pleased with the progress that group has made.”

Nick Saban discusses increased leadership role for Bryce Young in 2022
Saban made an appearance on SportsCenter on ESPN Wednesday alongside Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders. Sage Steele asked Saban about his Heisman trophy winning quarterback Bryce Young and specifically his leadership heading into this season.
“Well, I think people forget that Bryce was a first year starter last year, so sometimes you don’t feel like when you’re a new guy, a new starter, that you should really be taking the bull by the horns and being the kind of leader that impacts and effects other people, especially when there’s a lot of old player around you,” Saban said.
