The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off one of their biggest wins of the season after they defeated the LSU Tigers, 42-28. It’s always difficult to beat Nick Saban teams in back-to-back years and the Tide proved that on the field in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night.

On the Sunday evening edition of the Andy Staples podcast, BamaOnline’s Tim Watts broke down how Saban is loving life right now as the Tide are in the middle of a seven-game winning streak.

Nick Saban has to be enjoying the way his team has looked

“I think he likes this team. I think the recruiting’s done well for Alabama. I felt that with last year’s class. You know, Nick Saban’s career from the media standpoint is when is he leaving, when is he leaving, when is he leaving? When does he retire? When does he retire? When does he retire? You know, that’s what we’ve dealt with. One rumor after another,” Watts explained.

But this latest stretch of wins is showing that talks of Saban’s demise were greatly, greatly exaggerated and he’s still as fired up as ever.

“Judging by his actions, I would say he’s enjoying life. And having success. I mean, there’s a lot of talk with Alabama fans that he was starting [Jalen] Milroe. He had lost the team. And they were done. I mean, seriously there were discussions all over,” Watts continued.

“You see them on the sidelines. Milroe makes a mistake. If the defense makes a mistake, you can see them coming off the sideline, and the bench catches ’em. High five. Head up. Coaches get ’em. All that kind of stuff. It is a close-knit group.”

Jalen Milroe certainly didn’t make many mistakes on Saturday night in a special performance against LSU. The dynamic dual-threat racked up 382 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide got their revenge for last year’s game in a big way, with one of their best performances of the 2023 campaign.

Alabama continues to put themselves in the thick of the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff, something Tide fans wouldn’t have dreamed of after the loss to Texas on Sept. 9. Right now, the Crimson Tide just have two roadblocks between them a SEC Championship Game appearance — Kentucky and Auburn. Sandwiched between those two games is a matchup with Chattanooga on Nov. 18th.

If Alabama can make it to the 2023 SEC Championship Game, they’ll likely have a showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs, as long as the ‘Dawgs can take care of business in their final two SEC games (Ole Miss on Nov. 11th, Tennessee on Nov. 18th).
