WATCH: Nick Saban has hilarious interaction with reporter over Yankees shirt during press conference

The New York Yankees had a big night on Tuesday, winning Game 1 of the ALDS over the Cleveland Guardians. Alabama reporter Nick Alvarez celebrated in style on Wednesday by wearing his Yankees gear to Nick Saban’s press conference.
Saban noticed.
“Aight, so, I got a question,” Saban said as his press conference wrapped up. “Am I allowed to ask a question? This Yankees shirt you’ve got on, is this for real or is this just show? You a Yankee fan? OK, that’s good, I like that.”

Saban has had a few light-hearted moments in press conferences lately, including one where he remembered to smile and tell everyone “thank you” as he walked away from the podium. Seeing the Yankees win probably helped his mood for Wednesday, too.
He’ll try to help his Alabama team get the same result Saturday when the Crimson Tide take on Tennessee. That game kicks off 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

Nick Saban says Bryce Young is on a ‘pitch count’ heading into Tennessee matchup
Last week, Bryce Young didn’t end up playing in Alabama’s victory over Texas A&M as he recovers from a shoulder injury. But things might be trending in a positive direction this week, according to an update from Nick Saban on Wednesday.
During a press conference, Saban said Young has practiced this week, but has been on a “pitch count” as he works his way back from an AC sprain in his shoulder. He suffered the injury against Arkansas two weeks ago and his status has been up in the air ever since.
Based on Saban’s update, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner seems to be progressing well.
“Bryce continues to practice a little bit more,” Saban said. “We’ve got him on a little bit of a ‘pitch count’ to kind of wean him back into it and see how it goes. We expect him to do even a little bit more tomorrow. That’s all I really have to say about that.”
