Walker Hayes has cracked the code to becoming a mainstream country music sensation.

First, his Fancy Like tune featuring a nod to Applebees gained notoriety across the country. An infectious tune, the restaurant even featured it in commercials. Love it or hate it, you have to respect the business acumen.

Now, Hayes has turned his focus to bringing Alabama legend Nick Saban into his lyrics. Evidently, the coach was appreciative, as he hosted Hayes and his family after the country singer name dropped him in his new song, AA.

Incase you were wondering, here’s the Saban mention in Hayes’ latest song, via Billboard.

“And I’m just tryna keep my daughters off the pole
And my sons out of jail
Tryna get to church so I don’t go to hell
I’m just tryna keep my wife from figuring out
That I married up and she married way, way down
In Alabama where they love Nick Saban
Tryna write a song the local country station’ll play
Hey, I’m just tryna stay out of AA.”

Will it be as infectious and lucrative as Fancy Like was for Walker Hayes and Applebees? That remains to be seen. Nevertheless, Nick Saban and Alabama faithful have a tune they can blast all summer long, as they prepare for what should be another exciting season.

Nick Saban reacts to appearing in lyrics of latest Walker Hayes’ song

Having artists pay homage to their favorite athletes and sports figures in nothing out of the ordinary, but it’s not everyday that the love is sent the way of the head coach. Country artist Walker Hayes name dropped Alabama head coach Nick Saban in his new song ‘AA,’ and was able to showcase Saban’s reaction to his song on social media.

“I think Nick likes it,” Hayes wrote. “He cracked a smile.”

Saban, who is one of the most successful head coaches in college football history, has won six national championships at the helm of the Crimson Tide program. With a unprecedented win percentage (88 percent, 183-25), eight SEC Championships, nine SEC West titles, 44 consensus All-Americans and four Heisman Trophy winners over 15 seasons, no coach in college football today can lace his boots in terms of accolades and accomplishments over the same span.

So, naturally, a country music artist will mention his home-state head coach that has brought his favorite football team so much success.
