Alabama officially announces hirings of OC Nick Sheridan, WR coach JaMarcus Sheppard

Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are still working on announcing the coaching staff, with two more names becoming official on Tuesday afternoon.
Nick Sheridan will serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach while JaMarcus Sheppard‘s primary role will be wide receivers coach. However, he also has the title of assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator.
“Nick and JaMarcus are both fantastic coaches, and we are excited to have them join us at Alabama,” DeBoer said in a statement. “They have experience in our offense, and they know what we are trying to accomplish on that side of the football. They both bring passion and enthusiasm to their work and have proven to be excellent teachers and recruiters at every stop of their careers.”
Sheridan has worked with DeBoer for three seasons, both at Indiana and Washington. However, he was the tight ends coach at both stops. Alabama was thought to be hiring Ryan Grubb for the OC/QB coach role but he is now with the Seattle Seahawks.
Instead, Sheridan will be the one to work with Jalen Milroe in 2024, hoping to improve in his second season as the starting quarterback.

“It is a tremendous opportunity to join Coach DeBoer at Alabama,” Sheridan said. “I look forward to working with this offensive staff to develop a plan each week to put our team in a position to be successful. There is an unmatched legacy at Alabama, and I understand the importance of upholding that standard while developing our players.”
As for Sheppard, he had spent just one season at Washington. He previously was with the Purdue Boilermakers as the wide receivers coach. Sheppard became a household name this season due to producing a three-headed monster of Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja’Lynn Polk en route to a national championship appearance in 2023.
“I have a passion for coaching and developing our football players both on and off the field,” Shephard said. “The chance to help Coach DeBoer continue the standard at Alabama is something I take a lot of pride in working to accomplish. This is a special place, and I am excited about the opportunities that are in front of us.”
With how explosive the Washington offense was under DeBoer’s watch, Alabama will be hoping for similar results moving forward. Hiring Sheridan and Sheppard away from the Huskies should help the process translate a bit better in Tuscaloosa.
