Paul Finebaum considers if Kalen DeBoer has coached his way onto the hot seat at Alabama

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer is in his first season with the program. Despite how brief his time has been with the program, there is some concern he’s already coaching his way onto the hot seat.
While making an appearance on The Matt Barrie Show, Paul Finebaum shared his thoughts on Kalen DeBoer and where the conversation stands around him. This comes after a three-game stretch where the Crimson Tide beat Georgia, lost to Vanderbilt, and then survived an upset attempt from South Carolina.
“There is an endless list of those but, to me, it’s probably DeBoer,” Paul Finebaum said. “And I don’t mean costing himself a job. I’m just saying if you’re looking at Kalen DeBoer as a stock price, before the season it’s sky high, it shoots. Literally, they had to stop trading on Kalen DeBoer, to go Wall Street on you, at midnight two weeks ago. Now, it’s like on the penny stocks market.”
At this point, Kalen DeBoer has coached just six games at Alabama. However, with the task of replacing the legendary Nick Saban, this was always going to be a job with a ton of pressure on and around it for DeBoer. However, the struggles in the last two weeks haven’t helped.
“He literally is turning Alabama fans off…I think it is [that bad],” Finebaum said.
At this point, Matt Barrie pushed back on Paul Finebaum a little. However, Finebaum did confirm that this is what he’s hearing from Alabama fans.

“I mean, I realize they could turn it around and go 11-1 and still win but there’s something about it and I thought there was a bottom for him and Alabama just shot — at that moment yesterday in that game when that game looked to be going into overtime and the bottom just got broken, and I’m sure I’ll be accused of piling on,” Finebaum said. “The shots at his clothes. I mean, there’s no filter around him. I read a local columnist yesterday who said beating South Carolina was actually worse than the Vanderbilt loss.”
Prior to his time at Alabama, Kalen DeBoer was the head coach at Washington, Fresno State, and Sioux Falls. He led the Huskies to a championship game appearance last season and won three national championships in four seasons at the NAIA level. His all-time record is 109-13.
“It doesn’t make sense, but I could pick you an obscure coach that nobody cares about like Mike Locksley who everybody thought was in great shape but is having a bad season, but that’s a waste of our time. Kalen DeBoer came into the season one of the top five coaches in the country.”
Next up is going to be a challenging test for the Alabama Crimson Tide, as they head to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers in Neyland Stadium.
