Alabama linebacker Qua Russaw underwent foot surgery after breaking it at Georgia, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer. However, he won’t be lost for the entire year.

DeBoer did confirm that Jah-Marien Latham is out for the season. The defensive lineman has a neck injury.

Russaw started the game at Georgia at the Wolf linebacker position, per BamaOnline’s Charlie Potter, but he only logged eight snaps before leaving the field. With Russaw not on the field and Latham not making the trip, Alabama turned to Yhonzae Pierre and true freshman Justin Hill at the edge-rushing position. There are only three healthy Wolf linebackers left on the Tide’s roster.

In four games, Russaw logged four tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack this season. Last year as a freshman, Russaw had 36 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Russaw was a five-star recruit out of Montgomery (Ala.) Carver, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 3 linebacker in the class and the No. 27 overall prospect in the class.

In addition to Russaw, Latham’s injury has been lingering after his hospitalization. His family recently released a statement on the situation.

Latham suffered a neck injury in practice last week and was taken to the hospital as a result. His family said he was on his way home Friday, according to a statement provided to WVUA-TV’s Gary L. Harris. They also expressed their thanks for the prayers and support this week.

“First off! I would like to thank GOD for his grace and mercy,” the statement read. “Cause if it hadn’t been for Him none of this wouldn’t have been possible. Second off I would like to thank the whole UA facility and staff for jumping into full gear making sure baby boy was stable heading to the ER. Last but not least I would like to thank friends and family that took time out their busy schedule to check in on us. Just know that everyone thought, prayers, phone calls, text and tokens of love was greatly appreciated.

“Cause know this was yet one of the worst feeling/ phone call a mother could received not knowing what to expect or the outcome, but what i did know was GOD had his hands on his/our child. For that reason I’m forever thankful and grateful. Well I can say our son (Jah-Marien Latham) is heading home and we’re on the road to recovery. He’s in great spirit! The love and support was strictly enforced! Thanks again and again.”
