Roydell Williams is 'feeling great' after injury recovery

This offseason, Alabama head coach Nick Saban noted that running back Roydell Williams was going to miss time this spring due to an injury. This came after he suffered a season ending injury in 2021. Luckily, it appears his recovery has been going well.
Now, Williams explained that he’s feeling great after recovering from that injury.
“I’m feeling great,” Roydell Williams said. “I’ve spent a lot of time downstairs in the training room with those guys and I spend every day with them. So, it’s like I’ve built a relationship with them and everything is going good.”
Neither Saban nor Williams when they spoke about the injury gave any specifics about what it was about.
Roydell Williams was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Despite his injury in 2021, Williams has flashed potential, rushing for 4.9 yards per carry and six touchdowns on his career. That includes four touchdowns in 2022 when Jahmyr Gibbs was the star at running back.
Replacing Gibbs is going to be a big question during the 2023 season for Alabama. However, Williams is likely going to be a big part of the answer there. So, Alabama needs him to stay healthy and contribute, helping with the transition at quarterback as well.
Nick Saban on the Alabama running backs
Alabama has a new quarterback, offensive coordinator, and starting running back among other key pieces turning over this offseason. Even for Nick Saban, it’s not easy to replace that much key production. However, one thing that makes it a lot easier to do is a strong running game.

This spring, Saban has talked about the Alabama running back depth, which is going to be so important to the Crimson Tide.
It’s been great. I mean, all guys have done well. You know, all four guys have had really, really good springs. They’re all very productive players. All these guys can contribute to the team in some ways,” Saban said.
“I mean, going really, really, really well. That’s, as long as we can stay healthy, I don’t think that’s an issue on our team.”
New offensive coordinator Tommy Reese was known for his power running game at Notre Dame. Now, with a young quarterback set to replace Bryce Young, that power running game is going to need to step up.
